The 110 mm SF2 LARS 2 (full name: Leichtes Artillerieraketensystem) is a self-propelled rocket artillery vehicle used exclusively by West German military forces in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- Role:
- Indirect fire support
Design[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
Armament
It is armed with a multiple rocket launcher pod that is mounted onto the truck's flatbed. This rocket pod is capable of firing 110 mm unguided rockets that are fitted with high-explosive (HE) payloads. By default, the LARS 2's rocket pod has access to pool of 36 HE rockets.
For self-defence against enemy infantry or unarmoured vehicles that get too close for the rocket pod to engage, the cab's roof has an 7.62 mm medium machine gun. It is fitted onto a turret ring and can be manned by the LARS 2's commander whenever they are turned out. This turret ring MG3 feeds from 120-round belts stored in ammoboxes. One belt is pre-loaded by default. It has 3 more ammoboxes in reserve, providing a combined total of 480 rounds.
Crew Capacity
The LARS 2 supports a crew of three that consists of the driver, its commander, and a gunner. No passengers may be seated either internally or externally.
Camouflage[]
NOTE: The LARS 2 has additional camouflage schemes for non-West German BLUFOR/REDFOR nations. Please note that these nations are not actually featured as playable factions in the DLC.
American[]
NOTE: Not featured as a playable faction.
Soviet[]
NOTE: Not featured as a playable faction.
West German[]
Protection[]
The LARS 2 has a base armour value of 200. It is not possible to attach any kind of addon armour onto the truck's body.
Body[]
The truck's body is only able to withstand a maximum of 200 points of damage. It takes 150% increased damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions. 100% of incoming damage is always shared with the LARS 2's main "health" pool.
Depletion of its integrity will result in a catastrophic kill.
Engine[]
The LARS 2's engine can only survive up to 90 points of damage. It does not take increased or reduced damage from HE-type munitions. No damage inflicted upon the engine will be shared with the vehicle's "health" pool.
Destruction of the engine cannot cause a catastrophic kill.
Fuel tanks[]
The fuel tanks are only able to take a maximum of 50 points of damage before rupturing. They take 150% extra damage from HE-type munitions. No damage inflicted upon the fuel tanks is shared with the LARS 2's main "health" pool.
Destroying the fuel tanks cannot cause a catastrophic kill.
Wheels[]
Each of the LARS 2's wheels can withstand 100 points of damage before their tyres burst. The wheels take 400% additional damage from HE-type munitions. At least 30% of incoming damage to any of the wheels will be shared with the vehicle's "health" pool.
Rocket pod[]
The rocket pod has separate mechanisms for adjusting the turret's elevation and traverse. Both components can take a maximum of 60 points of damage before they fail. They take 40% less damage from HE-type munitions. No damage inflicted upon either component is shared with the LARS 2's main "health" pool.
Armament[]
The gunner exclusively retains control over the MLRS 110 mm rocket pod while the commander has access to the MG3 7.62 mm medium machine gun. It should be noted that in the case of the latter, the commander must first be turned out in order to be able to man the MG3.
For optics, only the gunner has the ability to switch to the external viewfinder fitted to the rocket pod. It is a day sight (ARI01) that uses a fixed magnification of 4x. It cannot toggle enhanced vision modes:
MLRS 110 mm[]

NOTE: Refer to the Capabilities section for a more detailed explanation of the MLRS 110 mm's usage.
Warhead name | Base damage value | Damage type | Initial velocity (m/s) |
---|---|---|---|
DM21 (Primary) | 30 | High-Explosive | 640 |
DM21 (Secondary) | 600 | High-Explosive | 0.1 |
Multiple rocket launcher. Fires 110 mm unguided rockets loaded with high-explosive (HE) payloads.
Without a specific firing solution selected, the MLRS 110 mm can launch rockets at a rate of one every 0.3 seconds (200 rounds per minute). If the MLRS 110 mm's current "magazine" has been emptied or the launcher itself is fully depleted, it will take at least 90 seconds to rearm from a logistics truck.
Its DM21 rockets are always fired with an initial velocity of 640 m/s. The rocket's payload is split into two components consisting of the primary warhead and a secondary submunition. The primary warhead has a blast radius of 8 metres whilst the secondary submunition has a radius of 25 metres.
MG3[]

Base damage value | Aerodynamic friction | Initial velocity (m/s) | Penetration depth (mm) |
---|---|---|---|
11.76 | -0.00094464 | 820 | 11.07 |
7.62 mm medium machine gun. It is fitted to the roof of the cab and can only be manned while the commander is turned out.
It can attain a fire rate of up to 1,200 RPM and has a muzzle velocity of 820 m/s. Accuracy-wise, it has a dispersion of 0.0009599 rad. At least 8 seconds is needed to finish reloading a fresh belt or to fully rearm from a supply vehicle.
It is possible to manually adjust the MG3's zeroing. This starts from a minimum of 100 m up to a maximum of 1200 m. Any adjustments are made with increments/decrements of 100 m.
Capabilities[]
The MLRS 110 mm has nine usable firing solutions split across three modes:
- 6,000 to 7,800 metres (ETA 51-41 seconds)
- 7,800 to 10,000 metres (ETA 59-47 seconds)
- 10,000 to 14,000 metres (ETA 69-54 seconds)
No matter the selected range, it is possible to pick between three types of modes which affect how many rockets are fired per volley:
- Single: Fires one rocket per fire mission.
- Half: Fires 18 rockets over the course of roughly ~ 6 seconds for one volley.
- Full: Fires the entire "magazine" in a single volley. Takes approximately ~ 11 seconds to complete the fire mission.
If the launcher has already fired a rocket and the gunner attempts to switch modes to either Half or Full, the artillery computer will still attempt to launch as many rockets as possible to complete a fire mission.
FFV[]
Only the commander is able to utilise FFV when they are turned out. It should be noted that they must store the MG3 first (FFV cannot be toggled if they are manning the MG3).
Trivia[]
- The LARS 2 was not added to Global Mobilization's pool of assets until the release of Update 1.4.[1]
- Update 1.5 added multiple new camouflage schemes for the LARS 2, though they are only applicable through the Virtual Garage.[2]
