Aéroport de Tanoa

The Aéroport de Tanoa is a dual-purpose civilian/military airfield located on the island of Tanoa in the Tanoa Province of the Horizon Islands.

Overview[]

The main airport on Tanoa island and largest in the region, it caters to the vast majority of domestic and international inbound/outbound flights to the Tanoa Province.

Tourists can use public transportation or taxis to get to the nearby towns of Lifou and Lami, whereupon they can seek accommodation at any of the nearby hotels.[1]

Due to the recent outbreak of an unknown super-strain of malaria in the province, access to the airport has been strictly limited as of June 2038.[2] All arriving passengers are rigorously checked for contraband and illegal drugs by the airport's staff.[3]

Hangars[]

Two metal hangars can house several fixed-wing planes and helicopters.[4] It is located next to the rear freight processing section where cargo containers and fuel tanks are stored.

Military[]

The maintenance area of the airport is reserved exclusively for use by the Chinese-led Pacific CSAT garrison. The rear two entrances are restricted zones that are off-limits to all but airport workers[5] and police/military personnel[6]:

VTOL hangar[]

The third hangar on the southern side is large enough to support up to two VTOL gunships simultaneously. It contains a repair station and housing for the CSAT garrison's engineers.[7][8]

Static heavy machine gun turrets and an anti-aircraft battery are positioned close to the runway, protecting the surrounding airspace from intrusion by unknown aircraft.[7][8]

Trivia[]

  • The Aéroport de Tanoa was prominently featured first in the VTOL showcase added with the release of the Jets DLC.[9]
