The ARCO (full name: Advanced Rifle Combat Optics) is a low-powered riflescope used by both CSAT forces and Viper units, along with Russian Spetsnaz operatives in ArmA 3.
Design
It has a backup red dot sight above the primary scope for use in close quarters combat.
Like its NATO counterpart, the ARCO has a fixed zeroing range of 300 m for its primary scope and a magnification strength of 2x, while the backup red dot sight is set to a zeroing of 200 m.
The ARCO uses a crosshair reticle with an illuminated chevron, and is mainly optimised for use with 6.5 mm-chambered firearms (both caseless and cased). This includes:
- CSAT
- Russian Spetsnaz
- The AK-12 series of modular rifles (7.62 mm; all sub-variants)
- NATO
- The MX series of modular rifles (6.5 mm; all sub-variants)
- LDF
- The Promet series of modular bullpups (6.5 mm; all sub-variants)
- AAF
- Mk200 light machine gun (6.5 mm)
- Syndikat
- The AK-12 series of modular rifles (7.62 mm; all sub-variants)
Beginning with the chevron, the ranges for each horizontal bar rise in 100 metre increments. This starts at 300 metres (tip of the chevron) and goes all the way up to a maximum of 900 metres at the lowermost marker.
On the other hand, the marker located just above the chevron (isolated from the rest of the reticle) is only set for targets at ranges of 100 metres.
Variants
- ARCO AK: Unique variant optimised specifically for use with the AK-12's 7.62 mm round. It remains otherwise identical to regular ARCO scopes.
Camouflage
- Black: Black paint finish. Used by both Mediterranean and North African CSAT forces.
- Sand: Desert sand paint finish. Utilised by Viper Team operatives.
- Green Hex: Tropical Hexacam camouflage pattern. Exclusive to Pacific CSAT marksmen.
- Arid: Desert camouflage pattern.
- Lush: Woodland camouflage pattern. Exclusively utilised by Russian Spetsnaz operatives.
Trivia
- The ARCO is based on the real-life "SpecterOS 4x", a combat optical sight made by Canada-based company ELCAN Optical Technologies.
- The top mount reflex on the other hand appears to be based on the "DOCTERsight II plus", a reflex sight manufactured by DOCTER Optics of Germany.
- The Black and Green Hex versions were not added until the release of the Apex expansion.
- The dedicated AK scope variants and Arid/Lush finishes would not be included until the addition of the Contact expansion pack.
