Quadbikes are all-terrain vehicles featured in ArmA 2 and ArmA 3.
ArmA 2[]
The ATV is used by the U.S. Army, the British Army, Czech special operations units, and Takistani civilians in ArmA 2. It was added with the release of the Operation Arrowhead expansion pack.
Overview[]
- Role:
- Reconnaissance
- Recreational driving

Design[]
The ATV is an all-terrain, 4x4 light utility vehicle that is mainly designed for use by special operations teams and civilian enthusiasts.
Features
Compact and nimble, the ATV makes for the perfect off-road vehicle to bring onto missions where stealth and speed is necessary. Its small size makes it difficult to spot from afar, not to mention that its engine is also fairly quiet to operate.
Mobility
It can easily reach speeds of up to 91 km/h depending on the flatness of the surface that it's being driven on. Even when driving off-road, the ATV can maintain speeds of ~ 55-62 km/h.
Drawbacks
It does not provide any ballistic protection or visual concealment for its riders, so care must be taken if the ATV is being driven into an area with enemies.
While extremely fast for a vehicle of its size, the ATV is notoriously prone to flipping on the slightest contact with any terrain obstacles. This will not only cause the vehicle to become immobilised due to being unable to rotate it upright again but can also inflict serious (if not lethal) injuries to both the driver and passenger.
Crew Capacity
The ATV has a maximum capacity of just two riders (a single passenger and the driver themselves). The passenger sits in tandem behind the driver in front.
Camouflage[]
- Military: Tan/mud brown colour scheme. Exclusive to U.S. Army, British and Czech ATVs.
- White: White colour scheme.
- Black: Chrome black colour scheme.
- Grey: Light grey colour scheme.
- Red: Bright red colour scheme.
- Green: Bright green colour scheme.
- Blue: Chrome blue colour scheme.
- Yellow: Pale yellow colour scheme.
- Purple: Bright purple colour scheme.
Protection[]
ATVs have a base armour value of 30.
Successful strikes to any of the following highlighted sections will inflict full damage to the component:
Body[]
The ATV's body can incur just 30 points of damage.
Engine[]
The engine can survive up to 60 points of damage before failing. A damaged engine will prevent the ATV from attaining its top speed.
Fuel tank[]
The fuel tank can take 30 points of damage before rupturing. Incurred damage will cause the ATV to gradually leak fuel over time.
Wheels[]
Each of the the ATV's tyres can withstand 30 points of damage before bursting.
Trivia[]
- The ArmA 2 ATV is seemingly based on the 2008 model of the "Foreman 500 Ps" 4x4 designed by the Honda Motor Co. Ltd.
- Prior to the latest Steam version patches, the ATV was exclusive to BLUFOR factions only. The latest CorePatch updates would include the vehicle as a usable asset for Takistani civilians.[1]
- However, only the default White scheme is available in the editor. All the other variants are hidden by default unless they are created by script or are randomly spawned through the Ambient Civilian Life module.
- The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
- Additionally, there are three more variants that are also hidden within the editor for the Takistani Army, Russian Armed Forces, and NAPA factions (Classnames: ATV_TK_CP[2], ATV_RU_CP[3], ATV_Gue_CP[4]).
- Of these three derivatives, only the Russian variant has a unique texture.[5][6] The Takistani Army variant uses the default military brown colour while the NAPA variant reuses the civilian Black scheme.
- Just like the alternate civilian variants, they are all hidden by default and cannot be spawned without the use of scripting commands or a custom addon.

ArmA 3[]
The Quadbike is used by both Altian/Tanoan civilians, IDAP aid workers, as well as with several BLUFOR, REDFOR and INDFOR factions in ArmA 3.
Overview[]
- Roles:

- Recreational driving
« | A Quadbike is an all-terrain vehicle with low-pressure tires and handlebars for steering. The military uses quad bikes for reconnaissance and to access terrain difficult for heavier vehicles. Field Manual
|
» |
Design[]
Returning in ArmA 3, Quadbikes continue to serve as 4x4 all-terrain vehicles intended for both civil and military use.
Features
Like its predecessor, the ArmA 3 Quadbike remains as a compact scouting vehicle.
Since it can be comfortably driven into into remote locations that would otherwise be impossible to traverse for larger vehicles, the Quadbike is perfect for reconnaissance purposes. The Quadbike's light weight also means that it can be airlifted both internally and externally via slingloading by all transport helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
Mobility
Moderately fast for its size, the Quadbike handles well while going off-road. Care should still be taken when driving off-road however, as the Quadbike does have a tendency to flip over if driving at high speeds on uneven terrain.
Drawbacks
The Quadbike's design and intended purpose means that it lacks any sort of armour plating to provide protection for its passengers.
Although its nimble size and good speed allows for it to dart in and out of areas, the likelihood of its riders being severely injured or outright killed from enemy fire is still very high due to how exposed the passengers are. Therefore, it is ill-advised to use the Quadbike as a mode of transportation in a combat zone; save for inserting and performing fast (or improvised) extractions.
Crew Capacity
Quadbikes have a seating capacity of just two passengers (including the driver). The passenger sits in tandem just behind the driver.
Camouflage[]
- Forest Rangers: Dark green paint scheme with a logo of the Livonian Forest Rangers directorate painted on the front.
- Sand: Olive drab paint scheme. Applied onto Mediterranean NATO Quadbikes.
- Olive 1: Olive green paint scheme. Only used by Pacific/Eastern European NATO Quadbikes.
- Olive 2: Dark olive green paint scheme. Only used on LDF Quadbikes.
- Digital: Digitised semi-fractal camouflage pattern used by all AAF vehicles and aircraft. Suited to forested and grassy environments, but otherwise useless in arid and desert terrain.
- Hex: Arid Hexacam camouflage pattern, useful for forested, grass plains, and desert environments. Exclusive to Mediterranean CSAT Quadbikes.
- Green Hex: Tropical Hexacam pattern camouflage, suited to heavily forested and tropic environments. Exclusive to Pacific NATO Quadbikes.
- Black: Pattern-less chrome black paint scheme.
- Blue: Pattern-less blue paint scheme.
- Red: Pattern-less red paint scheme.
- White: Pattern-less white paint scheme.
- FIA 1: Two-tone green/olive green paint scheme using line and stroke patterns. Used only by the FIA.
- FIA 2: Unique woodland camouflage designed to mimic forest brush. Uses a mixture of photo-realistic imagery in the form of leaves, branches and tree trunks. Also used only by FIA guerillas.
Protection[]
Quadbikes have base armour values of 30. Although not exclusively a civilian vehicle, Quadbikes do not support being fitted with additional armour modules.
The following highlighted positions serve as weak points on Quadbikes:
Body[]
The vehicle body on Quadbikes can survive just 30 points of damage. It receives 150% additional damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions.
Depletion of the body's integrity will instantly result in a catastrophic kill.
Engine[]
The engine can survive up to 120 points of damage before failure. No amount of damage incurred will be shared with the Quadbike's main "health" pool.
If damaged: Reduces power output, acceleration is decreased and it may become impossible to climb uphill.
If destroyed: Instantly immobilises the Quadbike.
Fuel tank[]
The Quadbike's fuel tank can resist up to 60 points of damage before rupturing. No damage is shared with the Quadbike's main "health" pool.
Wheels[]
Each of the four tyres can only survive 80 points of damage. They take a 400% increased damage penalty from HE-type munitions, though none of it is shared with the Quadbike's "health" pool.
Destroying all four will be required to completely immobilise the Quadbike. Depending on which and how many are remaining, it is entirely possible for Quadbikes to continue driving with two out of four tyres missing (though making simple manoeuvres or climbing uphill will be near-impossible).
Trivia[]
- The ArmA 3 Quadbike appears to be based on the real-life "Grizzly 450" ATV manufactured by the Yamaha Corporation.
- It was originally featured as a usable vehicle in the Alpha. However, it was only available to NATO and CSAT and wasn't added to the other factions until the release of Game Update 0.70 (in the Beta).[7]
- FIA versions of the Quadbike were not included until the release of the free Bootcamp Update (as part of Game Update 1.24).[8]
- Prior to Game Update 1.52, shooting at certain parts of the Quadbike would cause the ricochet to emit dust particles instead of sparks. Hitpoints were also positioned in slightly different locations.[9]
- The Green Hex camouflage scheme for Pacific CSAT forces was not added until the Apex expansion pack[10], while the Forest Rangers and alternate Olive textures were only included in the Contact expansion.[11]
