The Ballistic Vest, Pilot is a ballistic-resistant vest worn by West German helicopter pilots in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.
Overview[]
Issued to West German helicopter pilots, the Ballistic Vest provides enough storage space for up to 100 "mass" units' worth of ammunition/gear. It is available in two variants, the baseline vest and one with shoulderguards. The former is lighter and only weighs 70 "mass" while the latter is heavier, having a weight of 80 "mass" instead.
Rated at Level II protection standards, the Ballistic Vest covers the wearer's chest, abdomen and diaphragm. At near-point blank ranges, the wearer can consistently survive being struck by a single 5.45 mm/5.56 mm round. However, it isn't capable of stopping full-power 7.62 mm rounds.

Trivia[]
- Ballistic Vests were not initially available upon Global Mobilization's release and were only added in Update 1.2.[1]
- The shoulder guards are purely cosmetic and do not provide additional protection from explosives or gunfire.
- Following Update 1.4's release, the Ballistic Vest's protective qualities have been drastically reduced. It now has an armour rating of Level II rather than Level III, weighs 80 "mass" units as opposed to 70 (for the shoulderguards variant), and also reduces incoming damage by only 15% instead of 30%.[2]
