The Boat is a light patrol vessel used exclusively by Soviet military forces in ArmA: Cold War Assault.

  • Roles:
    • Coastguard
    • Troop transport
« Armed boat used by Soviet army. It has machinegun mounted onto turret in the back and transports soldiers into battle from the shore.
Vehicle Description

The Boat is a Soviet-made small patrol ship that is used to guard waterways and shorelines.

It has a .50 cal heavy machine gun attached onto a rotatable turret mount located in the stern of the ship. The HMG feeds from a single 500-round belt box and has no spare boxes to reload from.

The Soviet counterpart to the U.S. Mark II PBR, the Boat is completely identical in almost every aspect. From handling to top speed, armour plating, and even right down to armament, the two vessels essentially share the same capabilities and roles.

The only two differences with the Boat is the positioning of its main gun, which is located in the rear instead of at the front, and that it can transport four more passengers than the PBR. The Boat otherwise remains unchanged from its American counterpart in every other aspect.

Crew Capacity
The Boat supports a crew of two that consists of the driver and the rear gunner. It is able to carry up to ten passengers at a time.

The Boat has 100 points worth of armour plating.

The rear gunner controls the Boat's M2 .50 heavy machine gun turret.

For rotation, the turret can be freely swivelled up to a maximum of 270 degrees horizontally, but is vertically restricted to an elevation of just 20 degrees and a depression of 5 degrees:

M2 .50

Base damage value Initial velocity (m/s)
13 1,000

.50 cal heavy machine gun. Strong against infantry, unarmoured/lightly-armoured ground vehicles and other waterborne vessels.

It can attain a fire rate of up to 600 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 1,000 m/s. Accuracy-wise, it has a dispersion of 0.0007 rad at ranges of 1,000 metres away.

  • Despite being clearly modelled with a 7.62 mm-chambered PKT machine gun, the Boat strangely uses the same M2 .50 cal HMG as the American Mark II PBR.
  • Other than those featured in unofficial third party-developed Creator DLCs, Cold War Assault's Boat remains to date as the only armed vessel that is exclusive to an REDFOR faction in the entire series.
    • The only other watercraft that is armed and available to a REDFOR faction; the Speedboat in ArmA 3, is a shared design that is utilised by all three main factions.
