Design[]
The Boat is a Soviet-made small patrol ship that is used to guard waterways and shorelines.
Armament
It has a .50 cal heavy machine gun attached onto a rotatable turret mount located in the stern of the ship. The HMG feeds from a single 500-round belt box and has no spare boxes to reload from.[CfgVh 5]
Features
The Soviet counterpart to the U.S. Mark II PBR, the Boat is completely identical in almost every aspect. From handling to top speed, armour plating, and even right down to armament, the two vessels essentially share the same capabilities and roles.
The only two differences with the Boat are the positioning of its armament and transportation capacity. Unlike the PBR, the Boat's machine gun is mounted onto the boat's stern as opposed to a bow cupola. When it comes to troop capacity, it can carry four more passengers than the PBR.[CfgVh 1] However, aside from these two differences, the Boat remains otherwise identical to its American counterpart.
Crew Capacity
The Boat supports a crew of two that consists of the driver and the rear gunner. It is able to carry up to ten passengers at a time.[CfgVh 1]
Protection[]
The Boat has 100 points worth of armour plating.[CfgVh 6]
Armament[]
The rear gunner controls the Boat's M2 .50 heavy machine gun turret:
M2 .50[]
Ammo parameter | Value |
---|---|
Base damage value | 13[CfgAm 1] |
Spill damage value | 4[CfgAm 2] |
Muzzle velocity (m/s) | 1,000[CfgWp 1] |
General-purpose .50 cal heavy machine gun.
It can attain a fire rate of up to 600 rounds per minute[CfgWp 2][Formula 1] and has a muzzle velocity of 1,000 m/s.[CfgWp 1] Accuracy-wise, the M2 has a dispersion of 0.0007 rad.[CfgWp 3] The bullets have a spill radius of 0.2 metres upon impact.[CfgAm 3]
For rotation, the turret can be freely swivelled up to a maximum of 180 degrees horizontally[CfgVh 7][CfgVh 8], but is vertically restricted to an elevation of just 20 degrees[CfgVh 9] and a depression of 5 degrees.[CfgVh 10]

Trivia[]
- Despite being clearly modelled with a 7.62 mm-chambered PKT machine gun, the Boat strangely uses the same M2 .50 cal HMG as the American Mark II PBR.[5]
- Prior to Patch 1.10 for Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis (the former name of Cold War Assault before its re-release), Boats that ran out of ammunition could cause the game to suddenly crash once the HMG's ammo pool was depleted.[6]
- Patch 1.30 corrected two major issues that remained from release. The first issue caused the gunner to be almost invincible and impervious to gunfire (they could only be killed by explosions or the boat itself being destroyed). The second issue caused the Boat to not emit a wake effect while it was in motion.[7]
- Other than those featured in unofficial third party-developed Creator DLCs, Cold War Assault's Boat remains to date as the only armed vessel that is exclusive to an REDFOR faction in the entire series.
