Boonies are wearable hats used by multiple factions in ArmA 3. They were added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.

Overview[]

By default, Boonies have their brims facing downwards at a flat angle. However, they are available in four more variants that have the brim folded to the front, sides, left or right. Each variant comes in nine styles (either camouflage patterns or flat colours). A fifth unique variant also has a rebel battle flag stitched to the front.

Regardless of style, Boonies all share the same weight value of 10 "mass" units. No variant of the Boonie provides the wearer with enhanced protection to small arms fire and indirect explosions.

Variants[]

ANZAC[]

The ANZAC derivative is worn exclusively by Australian and New Zealand forces, both by conventional troops and SASR/SAS operatives.

It weighs the same as its parent Boonie. The two main differences are its appearance, which is more ovular in shape, as well as being limited to just a "jungle green" light olive colour scheme.

Like its MACV/ARVN counterpart, the ANZAC model is also available in multiple styles and can be folded up, down or left in unaltered state. Additionally, the ANZAC Boonie may or may not feature a striped loop.

Camouflage[]

  • Black: All-black colour scheme.
  • ERDL: Standard jungle camouflage pattern.
  • ERDL Brown: Alternate version of the ERDL pattern but with mid-brown and grass green organic shapes.
  • Green: Medium green colour scheme.
  • Grey: Dark grey colour scheme.
  • Leopard: "Duck hunter" camouflage pattern.
  • Olive:* "Jungle green" light olive colour scheme.
  • Spray: Two-tone spraypaint-style "camouflage".
  • Tiger: Tiger stripe camouflage pattern.
  • Tiger Green: Green version of the Tiger stripe camouflage pattern

It should be noted that with the exception of the Olive scheme, all other colour schemes/camouflage patterns have an optional Rebel sub-variant that has a battle flag stitched to the front of the Boonie.

(*) This colour scheme is only available to ANZAC Boonies.

Trivia[]

  • ANZAC Boonies were not initially available upon the DLC's release and were only added after Update 1.2.[1]
  • Additional Boonie camouflage styles (in addition to the Rebel sub-variants) were added after the release of Update 1.3.[2]
