Booniehats are wearable hats worn by multiple factions in ArmA 3.

Overview[]

A wide-brim hat made out of lightweight and durable fabrics, Booniehats are favoured by both military personnel and civilian hunters alike.

They have a weight of 10 "mass" units. Booniehats do not protect the wearer from gunfire or indirect explosions.

Variants[]

Headset[]

This variant is simply a regular Khaki-coloured Booniehat with a headset worn alongside it.

It is only available in one colour scheme. There are no statistical or functional changes compared to the regular Booniehat.

Camouflage[]

  • MTP: MTP camouflage pattern. Used by Mediterranean NATO forces.
  • Tropic: Tropical MTP version of the regular MTP pattern. Exclusive to Pacific NATO forces and some CTRG Group 15 operatives.
  • Woodland: Woodland-themed MTP camouflage pattern scheme. Used by NATO forces stationed in Eastern Europe.
  • AAF: Digitised semi-fractal camouflage pattern. Used by the AAF.
  • Taiga: Taiga-themed Hexacam camouflage pattern. Exclusively utilised by Russian Spetsnaz operatives.
  • LDF: Fractal pattern meant to mimic the LDF's Geometric camouflage. Only used by the LDF.
  • Khaki: Darkened khaki colour scheme.
  • Green: Medium green colour scheme.
  • Olive: Olive green colour scheme.
  • Sand: Bright tan colour scheme.

Trivia[]

  • The headset-fitted Booniehat was not actually available at ArmA 3's launch and was only included after the release of Game Update 1.08.[1]
  • Game Update 1.18 corrected minor visual glitches with the Booniehat's shadows. Prior to the patch, shadow bleeding would occur if the Booniehat was viewed at from certain angles and distances.[2]
  • Variants added in the Apex[3] and Contact[4] expansion packs do not count as premium assets and can be freely worn regardless of DLC ownership.[5]
  • Booniehats are utilised by almost every faction in ArmA 3 and have their own faction-specific camouflage patterns or schemes available with the sole exception of CSAT.

Icon used for the deprecated Booniehat model.

  • An unused icon for an alternate version of the Booniehat exists within the game files (Texture name: icon_h_booniehat_ca.paa[6]).
    • Based on its look, it appears to be a ported and slightly retextured version of boonies worn by certain USMC Force Recon units in ArmA 2.[7]
    • Its model still remains within the game files (Model name: headgear_booniehat01.p3d[8]) but config classes that reference it as a placeholder are deliberately hidden (such as the turban[9]), which would suggest that this version of the Booniehat was deprecated early in development.
