The CTRG Stealth Uniform is a uniform worn by CTRG operatives in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Apex DLC.
Overview[]
CTRG's Stealth Uniform was originally developed for use by the U.S. Army, and is designed to mask the wearer from both thermal optics and infrared sensors. Stealth Uniforms weigh a total "mass" of 40 and provide room for up to 40 units worth of ammunition/items.
Stealth Uniforms offer full masking on the infrared spectrum from neck to toe. For best results however, it is intended to be paired with a thermally-masked helmet and balaclava. When the latter two are equipped, the wearer will become virtually undetectable on thermal.
The Stealth Uniform does not offer any protection from either gunfire or explosives.
Variants[]
Rolled-up[]
Identical to the regular Stealth Uniform but with the sleeves rolled-up.
It should be noted that due to the raised sleeves, the wearer's heat signature (starting from their wrists) can be spotted on thermal optics/sensors.
Tee[]
Identical to the regular uniform statistics-wise but lacks the shirt, leaving the wearer's torso/undershirt uncovered.
Only the pants are thermally-masked. The user's chest and arms remain fully exposed to thermal optics and sensors.
Camouflage[]
- Tropic: Tropic Dazzle camouflage pattern. Exclusively used by operatives deployed to jungle/forested landscapes.
- Arid: Arid Dazzle camouflage pattern. Only used by operatives in arid/semi-arid environments.
Notes[]
Non-stealthed soldier (left) vs. stealthed operative (right) lying prone on an asphalt road.
- Depending on the terrain's surface type, time of day, weather conditions, and whether the wearer is hiding amongst foliage, they will either be completely concealed (as before the changes) or become visibly identifiable regardless of the toggled spectrum.
- This is especially noticeable if the wearer happens to be lying on paved roads or other unnatural man-made surfaces.
Trivia[]
- Originally, the CTRG Stealth Uniform did not have any other camouflage options aside from its default Tropical Dazzle. The Arid version was later added as part of Game Update 2.00 to celebrate ArmA 3's seventh year of release.[2]
- The CTRG Stealth Uniform simply uses a modified version of NATO's Combat Fatigues but with a raised collar and sealed sleeves.
- For unknown reasons, this does not apply to the uniform's first person LOD view as it will still show that the wearer's sleeve isn't sealed. Fortunately, this does not actually affect the wearer in third person as their "exposed" wrists will not appear on thermal optics.
