Camp Kresnik (Polish: Obóz Kresnik) is located in the south-east sector of Nadbór, approximately ~ 500 metres to the south of the Rodzanica radio station.
It was established at the height of Exercise Electron-39, a joint military exercise held biennially between NATO member states in the region's exclusion zone.[1] It serves as another logistics hub alongside Camp Konrad[2], and is staffed by personnel from both the U.S. Army and the Livonian Defense Force.
History[]
SPIN-OFF: The following information stems from a spin-off expansion or third party Creator DLC and is considered to be non-canon in the main Armaverse timeline.
SPOILER ALERT
NOTE: This section contains spoilers from ArmA 3: Contact's 'First Contact' campaign.
MAJ Homewood and Čapek/Dr. Kesson brief the survivors on their next plan of action.
The duo briefed the gathered Americans and Livonians on their current situation, and Homewood decided that their next course of action would be to conduct further investigations into the nature of the alien lifeforms. A recon team, led by Lieutenant John Kingsly, would lead the search with the help of an ED-1 UGV.[4]
However, the search proved to be unsuccessful, and the drone was disabled in the process, forcing the Major to dispatch one of his subordinates, Specialist Aiden Rudwell, to Point Hopi and retrieve a new drone.[5] While the Specialist was there, he was redirected by MAJ Homewood to attempt communications with one of the alien "drones".[6]
However, the Specialist was knocked unconscious after it mentally "attacked" him.[7] Interpreting the alien's actions as hostile, soldiers in the surrounding area panickedly opened fire.[8] The alien then retaliated in kind by destroying Point Hopi and wiping out all of the attacking soldiers - save for the Specialist, who had only just regained his consciousness.[9]
Kresnik, post-abandonment and raided by looters.
In the aftermath, a firefight soon broke out between the Livonians and a group of U.S. soldiers back at Camp Kresnik.[10] The rogue soldiers turned their weapons onto the Livonians after one of them, Corporal Jack Stype, killed MAJ Homewood by throwing a demining charge[11] at the latter.[12]
Kresnik was subsequently abandoned after what was left of the Livonians retreated[13], and the rogue U.S. soldiers went into hiding somewhere in the surrounding area.[14] Some of the rogue soldiers were captured but another group still managed to avoid capture.[15] Barely a few hours later, looters would raid the camp and steal much of the remaining equipment.[16]
Trivia[]
In the non-canon First Contact campaign, the player can spot a Recon variant of the AWC Nyx light tank parked near the northern side entrance.[17]
The LDF is never actually seen operating the Nyx nor any of its other variants throughout the campaign. Furthermore, it uses a flat olive green paint scheme as opposed to the distinctive "geometric" pattern that the majority of LDF vehicles utilise.
Whether this implies that the LDF operates the Nyx, or that they possibly belong to one of the other NATO members also participating in Exercise Electron-39, remains unclear.
