The AAF's Combat Fatigues are uniforms in ArmA 3.

Overview[]

From freshly enlisted recruits to officers, these uniforms are worn by all troopers serving in the Altis Armed Forces. They weigh a total of 40 "mass" and provide up to 40 units worth of space for ammunition/gear.

These uniforms do not offer any protection from small arms fire or explosives.

Variants[]

Officer[]

A formal version of the regular Combat Fatigues but with shoulder boards attached to the wearer's shoulders. It is exclusively worn by the AAF's upper echelons and leaders.

Statistically however, it remains identical to the basic uniform and has no difference in carrying capacity or stamina burden.

Rolled-up[]

Visually and statistically identical to the baseline uniform, though the sleeves have been rolled up even further and expose more of the wearer's arms.

There are no other differences from regular combat fatigues.

Ghillie[]

Worn by exclusively by sniper teams, the Ghillie variant has a ghillie jacket worn over the user's head and shoulders. It is heavier to don (60 versus 40 "mass") but compensates with an additional 20 units worth of storage capacity (up to 60 "mass" from 40).

Unlike dedicated ghillie suits, the uniform is not thermally-masked and does not conceal the user from infrared sensors/optics.

Notes[]

  • Wearing the Ghillie variant theoretically lowers the range at which the user will be detected by both the AI and players by up to 40%.
    • However, it does not actually do so due to technical limitations in ArmA 3 which only factor in camouflage effectiveness based on the unit's class (and not their currently worn uniform).

Trivia[]

  • With the exception of the Officer variant, the AAF's uniforms appear to be (very loosely) inspired by combat uniforms designed by Massif, a uniform and tactical gear manufacturer based in the state of Oregon, U.S.A.
  • Prior to Game Update 1.26, two changes were made to the AAF's Combat Fatigues:[1]
    • A duplicate version of the Rolled-up variant was worn by some specialist AAF units (Classname: U_I_CombatUniform_tshirt[2]). The patch's release deprecated the uniform and replaced it with the former.
    • The Officer uniform had a few visual glitches, causing parts of the outfit to stretch awkwardly when the wearer was crouched and also had shadow bleeding when it was viewed from certain angles.
