Armed Assault Wiki
« The Combination Unit Respirator (CUR) is an advanced special backpack that contains a Powered Air Purifying Respiration (PAPR) and Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA). Connected by hose to an APR, the former allows for easier breathing, while the latter creates an entirely closed circuit of breathable air. The CUR is fielded to Special Forces and tactical units who may encounter severe CBRN threats.

Note: this gear is primarily cosmetic; limited features are only available in the context of Contact's campaign and gameplay.

The Combination Unit Respirator is a backpack used by both Eastern European NATO specialist troops and CTRG operatives, as well as in limited numbers with the Livonian Defense Force's military science teams in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Contact DLC.

Overview[]

This is a premium asset that requires ownership of the Contact expansion pack.

Combination Unit Respirators are back-worn air purifiers, designed specifically to allow the user to operate for extended periods of time in NBC environments. It provides only 20 "mass" units of space for storing ammunition/items.[CfgVh 2]

However, as a functional backpack its pitiful storage capacity of 20 "mass" and a massive weight cost of 160[CfgVh 1] prevents the user from being able to carry even a single rocket or grenade. The lightest of these weigh 40 "mass", which is twenty more than the Combination Unit Respirator can support.

Needless to say, it is completely redundant for hauling anything other than two rifle magazines or a few hand grenades. Even then, there are better alternatives which possess more favourable stamina-to-storage ratios (i.e. the Leg Strap Bag).

Trivia[]

  • The Combination Unit Respirator is purely cosmetic outside of the First Contact campaign and is not functional as a means of providing oxygen for the user; underwater or otherwise.
  • The CUR was originally used by just NATO forces and the LDF. Following the release of Game Update 2.00, the members of CTRG Group 13 are also shown utilising the CUR for their training missions.[2]
