Revision as of 16:01, 5 April 2020

The DMS is a low-powered, variable-magnification riflescope used by both CSAT forces and Russian Spetsnaz operatives, as well as in limited numbers with civilian hunters in ArmA 3.

Design

It has a magnification strength range of 2x-4x. The primary optic can be zeroed between a range of 100 m up to 1,200 m.

The DMS also features a top mounted Yorris J2 sight for use in close quarters, which uses a fixed zeroing of 200 m instead.

The primary scope uses a PSO-style reticle with a stadiametric rangefinder. It is compatible with all marksman rifles and certain 7.62 mm machine guns, but is specifically tailored for the 7.62×54 mm cartridge:

Both the reticle's chevrons and dot increment in distances of 200 metres.

The isolated green dot above the uppermost chevron is intended for use against targets at ranges of up to 200 metres. Each subsequent chevron below it is marked for targets at distances of 400, 600, 800, and 1,000 metres (respectively).

Variants

  • DMS Kir: Unique model specifically zeroed for the ASP-1 Kir special purpose weapon.
    • The DMS Kir uses the same reticle as the regular scope, but zeroing is incremented in values of 25 m rather than 100 m. This starts at minimum of 50 m and continues up to 500 m. Upon reaching 500 m, the DMS Kir increments to 550 m before jumping to 600 m (maximum).
  • DMS (Old): Old and worn-out variant used by civilian hunters.

Camouflage

  • Black: Standard chrome black finish. Used by Mediterranean CSAT forces and Russian Spetsnaz operatives.
  • Green Hex: Tropical Hexacam camouflage pattern. Exclusive to Pacific CSAT forces.
  • Black (Worn): All-black colour scheme with a scratched and visibly faded paint coat. Only used by civilian hunters.

Trivia

  • The DMS appears to be based on the "XTR II" series, a family of riflescopes designed by Burris Optics.
  • Mounted on the rear tactical top rail is a "FastFire 2" also designed by Burris Optics. While functionally identical to its standalone sidearm counterpart, it is unique for using a red chevron reticle instead of a red dot.
  • The DMS variant with a Green Hex finish was not added until the release of the Apex DLC.
    • Meanwhile, the civilian and ASP-1 zeroed DMS variants would not be included until the Contact expansion pack's release.
  • Both prior to and on its release, the Kir-zeroed DMS was actually incompatible with the ASP-1 and did not work as intended.
  • The DMS is labelled as a product of Clearskeye, an Armaverse company that specialises in optical scopes.
