NOTE: This article is about Warsaw Pact DShKMs in ArmA 3's Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC. For DShKM machine guns in the main ARMA games, see DShKM.

The DShKM is a static 12.7 mm heavy machine gun used by both East German and Polish military forces in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.

Overview[]

The DShKM is a Soviet-made, gas operated heavy machine gun that fires from an open bolt. It is chambered to fire the 12.7×108 mm round.

It feeds exclusively from 50-round belt boxes, and can attain a fire rate of up to 600 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 850 m/s. The DShKM does not feature a magnified optic but has an adjustable sight that can be zeroed starting at 100 metres up to a maximum of 1,000 metres (adjustments are made with 100 metre increments/decrements).

The tripod can be fully rotated in all directions horizontally but is restricted to an elevation angle of 45 degrees and a maximum depression of 13 degrees.

In a static configuration, the DShKM works best as a defensive weapon against low-flying helicopters and massed infantry assaults. With a total of six belt boxes to reload from, a single DShKM turret has access to a combined pool of 300 rounds worth of 12.7 mm armour-piercing ammunition.

Though it obviously won't scratch the plating of heavier tanks, it is more than capable of punching through the armour of most light/medium-armoured trucks and Armoured Personnel Carriers. The sole downside to the DShKM is that it is too bulky and heavy to be carried. As such, it cannot be packed and reassembled into a backpack form if the operator needs to relocate positions.

Ironsights[]

The DShKM's ironsights allow for manual zeroing, starting from a minimum of 100 metres up to a maximum of 1,000 metres (100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000). By default, it is set to a zeroing of 800 metres.

Static DShKMs can only feed from one type of "magazine":

All fifty rounds of the magazine will emit visible tracers.

Trivia[]

  • The DShKM was not originally available as part of Global Mobilization's launch content and was only added after the release of Update 1.3.[1]
