Dolores is a town located in the Kingdom of Sahrani.
Overview[]
Dolores is a fishing port located to the south-east of Ortego. It is home to a moderately-sized population and is situated over the Golfo de Dolores.
It is unique for being the only other land route that circumvents the Monte Pesto and San Esteban mountains. Its three bridges were destroyed at the height of the war with the North, but were eventually rebuilt following the South's victory.
History[]
In a desperate attempt to curtail the Northern advance, Dolores' bridges are demolished by Southern troops.
On June 11th, 2006, Dolores became the site of a heated battle between beleaguered U.S. and Southern troops when Northern forces surrounded the town shortly after the fall of Ortego.
With the situation becoming desperate and their position in danger of being overrun, U.S. Army Captain David Armstrong commanded allied forces to plant explosives and wait for Northern tanks to cross the bridges.
Their destruction sent several of the tanks plummeting into the water below. It helped to delay the Northern advance until the evening, buying enough time for American/Southern troops to evacuate to Somato.
