However, before he could be debriefed properly, CTRG command has alerted them to the presence of a large group of insurgents and the CSAT black ops unit, Viper Team, closing in onto their position. Keystone must be extracted before both teams are overrun by the combined enemy force.
There is quite a lot of combat for this mission that often involves firefights taking place at distances of well beyond 300 metres. Short-ranged optics won't cut it since you will rarely get into close quarters whereas the marksman scopes given to Sharpshooters will help significantly with sighting targets. Scouts with their thermal riflescopes can also work just as effectively, though it's not really necessary since the mission takes place in daylight.
Paramedics are a must on this mission if you're playing on higher difficulties as Viper snipers can quickly incapacitate two or more members mid-mission. Regular Syndikat fighters shouldn't pose much of a threat but having at least one Paramedic for full heals will help.

Walkthrough[]
Primary 1: Extract Keystone[]
Not actually an objective in the conventional sense but rather your overall goal for the mission: to get Capt. Miller (Keystone) out of the AO. Raider 1 will be staying close to him and will move up behind your team after passing a certain distance or triggering specific enemy attack waves.
Contrary to what the objective would lead you to believe, do not waste your time shielding Miller from enemy fire. Both he and Raider 1 are completely invulnerable for gameplay purposes and will not be killed even if you lure every Viper/Syndikat fighter towards them. Prioritise your own team's safety at all times.
Primary 2: Move to the Beach[]
You can scrounge some weapons and equipment from the corpses of nearby Syndikat if you wish.
The AK-12s might come in handy depending on personal preference and you can gather some extra magazines for it from the crates in the nearby sheds. However, they're not really worth the loss in stamina - don't forget that this mission involves a lot of running and sprinting, so having as much spare stamina as possible is preferable.
When all players have (or haven't) geared up, head straight for the beach at grid coordinates 051-027 and wait for the extraction vessel, callsign Kingfish 1, to arrive.
Unfortunately, a squad of Viper operatives will destroy Kingfish 1's boat and your team will now be forced to fight off the ambushers. There are two fireteams' worth of operatives, totalling eight enemies. They will approach your location based on the positioning of each player so they may not be attacking from the same direction on each playthrough.
Focus on the northern and western side of the beach. Take cover behind the nearby rocks and return fire. Don't forget that although the Viper operatives are wearing thermally-masked suits, their rifle's gun barrel will still emit heat and can partially be seen lit up on infrared.
Once all enemies have been killed, you may wish to grab one of the Viper helmets if you aren't playing a class that has access to thermal goggles/optics. Aside from offering superior ballistic safety, their integrated thermal vision offers a full-screen panoramic view that is much better than the binocular-style reticle of your default optics. The Viper bullpup rifle is also a decent weapon to collect but you don't really need it for this mission.
Primary 3: Reach the LZ[]
Command has arranged for an alternate escape route via helicopter, callsign Angel 1-3, at a secondary extraction point. When all players are ready begin heading north through the jungle. The LZ is located on an open field at grid coordinates 048-031.
Once you've reached the LZ, wait for the helicopter to arrive.
Primary 4: Board the Helicopter[]
This objective will be aborted soon after Angel 1-3's helicopter is ambushed by yet another fireteam of Viper operatives. Fortunately, you only have to deal with four operatives this time. Look in the direction of the radio tower to the west and focus fire until they're dead.
Primary 5: Return to the Boats[]
With all means of alternate extraction having become unviable, you've been told to head back for your initial insertion boats. This is where the mission's primary gauntlet begins so be prepared for the fights ahead:
LEGEND Orange: Zone #1 trigger Yellow: Zone #2 trigger Teal: Zone #3 trigger Red: Viper sniper team Green: Syndikat spawn points Blue: Extraction boat (goal)
You will pass through three "zones" filled with numerous motorised Syndikat patrols and a backstab attack by a two-man team of Viper snipers. Triggering a zone will automatically alert the enemies in that "zone" and cause them to home in onto your position.
Focus on the machine gunners first as they can easily suppress your team if left unchecked. In the first zone, one player should keep an eye on the south-west as the sniper team will eventually come to a halt at grid 046-032 and start attempting to pick off players.
The most difficult engagement will happen in the second zone just before you reach the farm as there's virtually no cover and Syndikat will attempt to pincer you from the north-east and west. Sharpshooters ought to hang back and pick off the machine gunners while the rest of the team tackles the mounted insurgents. Remember: do not rush and take your time fighting through each wave. You are not on a timer unless you are aiming to get the mission's Fast Extract achievement.
LEGEND Red: Enemy spawn points Green: Your team's extraction boat
No matter what route or method you took to reach the third (and final) zone, you will face up against one final wave of Vipers who will attack you from the south and south-west, once again comprising of two four-man fireteams (eight in total). Take cover behind the rock formations at grid 044-043 or alternately, behind the extraction boat itself and return fire until every player has reached the boat. The mission will be over shortly afterwards.
Tips[]
Ignore Raider 1's complaints about taking fire from Viper/Syndikat. Miller and his team are invincible and cannot be killed under any circumstances. Do not waste time protecting him and focus on keeping yourselves alive.
If playing in singleplayer, don't forget that you can trigger each enemy spawn and immediately pull back to Raider 1's position to let them help you take out the wave. In addition, because they're always invulnerable, they make for excellent bullet magnets and save you the trouble of having to fight off the Syndikat on your own.
If you find yourself running low on ammunition near the end, there is a cache of CSAT weapons inside the Syndikat safehouse at 047-041. They have a decent supply of 6.5 mm-chambered marksman rifles which can help with the final battle.
It is not actually required for all enemies to be killed off for a successful completion of the mission. The only mandatory requirement for the primary objective is to reach the final extraction point at the beach west of Katkoula; the enemies themselves are only intended to serve as speedbumps for the player(s).
Achievements[]
Fast Extract
Must complete the mission in under 20 minutes. You can skip the majority of firefights (particularly in the second "zone") and sequence break a few of the triggers to speed up the mission's progress. Ignore enemies who do not pose a threat and focus only on the ones who "attack" Miller/Raider 1.
It may be better to attempt this solo as you will encounter less opposition due to the mission's built-in difficulty scaling.
Trivia[]
Kingfish 1's destruction cannot be prevented as the "shooter" is simulated by script (no physical unit fires a rocket at the vessel).
This mission marks the first appearance of Viper operatives wearing different outfits: the sniper team who attempt to flank the player(s) uniquely wear Full Ghillies and Ghillie Suits instead of their full-body suits.
The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
Although the official singleplayer version of the campaign has been cancelled by the developers, Extraction still has numerous internal references to an alternate iteration of the mission for singleplayer.
Dialogue subtitles suggest that instead of Raider 2, the player would have assumed control of Riker and Raider 1. Raider 2 would be absent and Raider 1 would have to locate their own means of extraction via boats at Katkoula, Lailai or the insertion boats (as with the multiplayer version).
