Faction Wars was a multiplayer game mode featured in ArmA: Mobile Ops. Support for the game mode was discontinued as of May 4th, 2022.[1]
Overview[]
In Faction Wars, players were given the choice of picking between one of two PMCs: the Clouds or the Flames, at the start of a month-long season.
Once the player picked a side, they would be able to access an overview of the PMC's base and provide support for their forces via two methods:
- Attacking: Players from either PMC could choose to attack the bases of enemy players that were supporting the opposing PMC (randomly selected in the same way as Global Conflict matches).
- Player versus Player (PvP) battles conducted in Faction Wars played differently to regular GC matches. Conventional resources (Fuel/Supplies) could not be pillaged in battles, and Victory Points were neither gained nor lost from winning/losing battles.
- The player's GC ranking was not affected no matter the outcome of a battle (both attacking and defending).
- Players could be matched against a wide variety of bases of varying HQ levels and defences, though they could only be matched up against players from the opposing side.
- Unlike mock battles between alliance members or training matches against the player's own base, units can be lost in Faction Wars battles. They must be reacquired at the Office if they are destroyed in combat at the player's own expense since they cannot loot resources in Faction Wars.
- Supporting: PMC bases had various structures that could be upgraded with either Fuel or Supplies. The cost of upgrading a structure remained static and could be upgraded an infinite number of times depending on the player's own available resources.
Contribution Points[]

In both cases, players accumulated Contribution Points that helped to increase the faction's score. There was no restriction to the manner in which they helped their PMC. Players could freely alternate between upgrading base structures or attacking enemy players.
Victory conditions[]
At the end of a season, the faction with the greater score would win. Depending on how many Contribution Points the player accumulated by the season's end, they would be rewarded with resources in the form of Fuel and Supplies. Only the players ranked highest on their faction's leaderboards would gain Command Points as a bonus.
Faction selection[]
Once they chose a faction to side with, players were not able to swap factions mid-season. However, their selection was not permanent as at the start of a new season, players could opt to join the opposing PMC from the last season or continue on with their previous faction.
Achievements[]
- You must obtain a score of at least 100,000 so that you get ranked on your chosen faction's leaderboard. This can only be obtained in a single season as your score will refresh at the start of every new season.
- If you cannot obtain a position in the current season, you will need to wait until the next season begins before you can attempt this again.
- Destroy a total of 2,000 Walls owned by players of the opposing faction.
- It may be preferable to use an Engineer Team set to a Slow stance rather than Tracked UGVs if you specifically want to go after this achievement. This is because Engineer Teams can demolish several Walls at once whereas Tracked UGVs can only destroy whatever they Charge into (and only when the ability is not on cooldown).
- This does not have to earned in a single season. Progress will accumulate over the course of multiple (non-consecutive) seasons.
- You have to destroy a grand total of 3,500 defensive structures owned by players from the enemy faction.
- Any structure will count so long as it is considered to be a Defence-type building (non-Defence structures like Offices do not count).
- This does not have to earned in a single season. Progress will accumulate over the course of multiple (non-consecutive) seasons.
- Destroy 250 Railgun Tower structures owned by opposing faction players.
- Due to the way matchmaking works in Faction Wars, it may not be possible to always get an opponent that has a Railgun Tower structure. You may need to keep shuffling until you run into a player that has one or more built.
- This does not have to earned in a single season. Progress will accumulate over the course of multiple (non-consecutive) seasons.
- The Rescue Operation support power (from the Operation Planning) must be triggered a total of 100 times throughout the course of your Faction Wars matches.
- Infantry squads must be successfully evacuated via this power or else it will not count towards the achievement.
- This does not have to earned in a single season. Progress will accumulate over the course of multiple (non-consecutive) seasons.
- You have to win at least 5,000 battles for your chosen faction.
- It is not neccessary to obtain 100% destruction in every match. Winning just a single star (50% destruction or destroying only the Headquarters) is sufficient for them to count towards this achievement's progress.
- Battles do not have to be performed in a single season and can be earned over the course of multiple (non-consecutive) seasons.
- Earn at least 100,000 Contribution Points (CP) in a single season.
- CP can be accumulated either by donating Supplies/Fuel to your chosen faction or by attacking enemy players from the opposing faction.
- Your CP counter will always refresh at the start of each season. Therefore, if you cannot get enough CP in the current season, you will need to wait until the next season begins before you can attempt this again.
- You have to donate a total of 1,000,000 units of Fuel to your chosen faction.
- This does not have to accomplished in a single season. Donations offered will still accumulate over multiple seasons.
- Destroy up to 1,000 Headquarters belonging to enemy faction players.
- This does not have to earned in a single season. Progress will accumulate over the course of multiple (non-consecutive) seasons.
- You have to donate a total of 1,000,000 units of Supplies to your chosen faction.
- This does not have to accomplished in a single season. Donations offered will still accumulate over multiple seasons.
- You need to destroy a total of 250 Drone Launchpad structures from enemy bases while fighting for your chosen faction.
- Due to the way matchmaking works in Faction Wars, it may not be possible to always get an opponent that has a Drone Launchpad structure. You may need to keep shuffling until you run into a player that has one or more built.
- This does not have to earned in a single season. Progress will accumulate over the course of multiple (non-consecutive) seasons.

Notes[]
- Support for Faction Wars was terminated on May 4th, 2022, due to the shutdown of Mobile Ops' online services.[1]
Trivia[]
- Faction Wars was not originally available upon Mobile Ops' launch, and was only added to the game after the release of Update 1.5.0.[2][3]
- The two PMCs, the Clouds and the Flames, were also featured as playable factions in Project Argo, a now-defunct, free-to-play competitive shooter title that was developed by Bohemia Interactive.
