Design[]

Premium content logo
This is a premium asset that requires ownership of the Operation Arrowhead expansion pack.

The GAZ is an executive car with a front engine, rear-wheel drive layout.

Features
Inspired by American and German-made compact/sub-compact vehicles, this Soviet-made executive car continues to see use in many nations throughout the globe.

Mobility
The GAZ is considerably faster than the Lada and can easily attain its top speed of ~ 104 km/h without much difficulty. Handling-wise however, the GAZ leaves much to be desired. It turns rigidly and cannot reverse as easily compared to most other civilian cars.

Drawbacks
As with the Lada, it suffers from a drastic drop in speed when driven off-road. Outside of travel on flat, paved surfaces, the GAZ isn't particularly useful for anything other than getting from one town to another.

Crew Capacity
The GAZ supports both the driver and up to three passengers.

Camouflage[]

  • Blue: Rusted sky blue paint scheme.
  • Grey: Silver grey paint scheme with heavy rust.
  • Black: All-black colour scheme.

Protection[]

The GAZ has a base armour value of 20.

Successful strikes to any of the following highlighted sections will inflict full damage to the component:

LEGEND
Green = Body
Orange = Engine
Violet = Fuel tank

Body[]

The vehicle's body can resist up to 20 points of damage.

Engine[]

The engines can only survive up to 10 points of damage before failing. A damaged engine will prevent the GAZ from being able to attain its top speed.

Fuel tank[]

The fuel tank can only take a meagre 2.8 points of damage before rupturing. Incurred damage will cause the GAZ to gradually leak fuel over time.

Wheels[]

Each tyre can incur just 3 points of damage before bursting.

Trivia[]

  • GAZ cars in ArmA 2 are based on the "GAZ Volga" designed by the Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ). Specifically, they are modelled after the 1977 "GAZ 24" models.
  • Prior to the latest Steam version updates (as part of CorePatch)[1], both variants of the GAZ were known as the "Vloha", a deliberate misspelling of its real-world counterpart ("Volga").[2]
    • CorePatch also corrected an issue with the vehicle's inventory. Before the latest patches, it was not possible to access its inventory unless the user was seated within the vehicle.[1]
