Design[]

The Towing Tractor is a logistical vehicle that is designed to tow aircraft aboard aircraft carriers and LHDs.

Features
It is exclusively operated by flight deck crews stationed on the 27th MEU's lead ship, the USS Khe Sanh.

Drawbacks
With a combination of stiff handling, lack of armour plating or weaponry, and an extremely low top speed, the Towing Tractor is unable to perform any other tasks outside of what it is designed for.

In addition, vehicle towing isn't actually simulated in ArmA 2. As such, the Towing Tractor is completely useless in-game since it cannot actually tow aircraft; aside from perhaps being used to store equipment since it has a relatively large cargo space.

Crew Capacity
The Towing Tractor only has enough seats for its driver and is unable to transport any passengers.

Protection[]

The Towing Tractor has a base armour value of 20.

Successful strikes to any of the following highlighted sections will inflict full damage to the component:

Body[]

The Towing Tractor's body can only withstand 20 points of damage before its integrity fails.

Wheels[]

Each of the tyres can take just 3 points of damage prior to bursting.

Trivia[]

  • ArmA 2's Towing Tractor is based on the real-world "A/S32A-31A Flight Deck Tractor" used by the U.S. Navy.
  • A Towing Tractor also appears as a placeable object in ArmA 3 for the USS Freedom aircraft carrier that was included as part of Game Update 1.76. Unlike its ArmA 2 incarnation however, it cannot be driven and is simply a non-interactive object that can be placed in-game either through the Zeus module or Eden editor.
