The 9K32 Strela-2 is a 72 mm surface-to-air missile launcher used by the ČSLA as well as in limited with FIA guerillas in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the CSLA Iron Curtain Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The 9K32 Strela-2 is a shoulder-launched, fire-and-forget, surface-to-air missile launcher.
It is designed to fire infrared-guided missiles fitted with 72 mm high-explosive (HE) warheads. The launcher is capable of locking onto flying targets at distances of up to 3,500 metres.
It takes 3 seconds to acquire a successful lock-on, though any attempted locks by the seeker on the 9K32 still has an 60% chance to have its lock be broken by defensive flare countermeasures.
Sight[]
The 9K32's sight cannot be manually zeroed. Its off-boresight limit extends to 75 degrees.
Munitions[]
9K32 launchers can only be loaded with one type of missile. It has a weight of 80 "mass" units:
Damage type | Base damage value |
---|---|
High-Explosive | 66 |
9M32Ms are always launched with an initial velocity of 18 m/s. The motor will then proceed to ignite 0.25 seconds afterwards, and requires a further 2.25 seconds of flight time to attain a maximum velocity of 500 m/s. Upon impact, the warhead has a blast radius of 7 metres.
The missile's seeker has an 88% chance of losing lock against flare-based defensive countermeasures. It has a proximity fuse radius of 10 metres.
Sensors[]
The 9K32's 9M32Ms utilise one type of sensor for guidance:
Infrared Sensor[]
The missile can lock onto 'hot' targets that are up to 3.5 km away, but is only able to track moving targets that are flying at speeds of up to 900 km/h. The sensor's lock-on cone differs depending on orientation; horizontally it is limited to an angle of 7 degrees while vertically it is restricted to just 4.5 degrees.
Trivia[]
- Upon CSLA's initial launch, the 9K32 bizarrely allowed the operator to guide missiles manually in mid-air after being launched even if the missile's seeker hadn't locked onto a target. This was eventually corrected after the release of CDLC Hotfix #2.[1]
- After Update 1.1, the 9M32M's susceptibility to flares was increased by 8%, but its motor now gains thrust faster by more than 50% and its maximum lock-on range was increased to 3.5 km.[2]
