The Sting is a 9 mm submachine gun used by CSAT forces, Altian criminal groups, and L'Ensemble guerillas in ArmA 3.
Overview[]
The Sting is a selective-fire, blowback-operated submachine gun that is chambered to fire the the 9×21 mm round.
It loads from 30-round translucent box magazines and can attain a fire rate of up to 1,100 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 370 m/s. The Sting can be fitted with accessories onto its top and side rails, and is also able to mount suppressors onto its muzzle.
Handling-wise, the Sting is a stable platform and its recoil is easy to control. Similar to other SMGs, the Sting possesses a high fire rate, with its only drawback being the low damage output and range of its 9 mm round.
Regardless of fire mode, the Sting has little recoil and is the most accurate SMG in its class. At distances of 200 metres or less, the user can instantly unload a hail of fire onto any targets with minimal dispersion.
Although the Sting is only intended for use by vehicle crewmen and pilots, its light weight allows it to be comfortably stored within most small backpacks. As a result, specialist classes like snipers may find it ideal to carry as a backup weapon.
In all other instances however, it is only recommended to wield the Sting as a primary weapon if the user expects to fight in close quarters exclusively. As with all other SMGs, it possesses far too many drawbacks inherent to SMGs; namely, the inability to attack targets located at distances of 300 metres and beyond.
Ironsights[]
The Sting's ironsights can zeroed between two fixed ranges of either 100 metres or 200 metres. Both the front and rear sight are illuminated and can be used in low-light conditions. The dots appear white in daylight but will glow in a lime green colour under darkness.
If an optical sight is attached onto the rail, the Sting will only permit an absolute maximum zeroing of 600 metres even if the optic itself supports a higher limit (e.g. DMS).

The Sting supports being loaded with a total of eight types of magazines which are actually divided into two subgroups of four (also shared with the PDW2000/Protector). Aside from their appearance, they are functionally identical to each other and are fully interchangeable between the platforms.
Regardless of the SMG that they are intended for, they all share the same weight of 10 "mass" units:
