The Chest Rig is a vest worn by several BLUFOR, REDFOR and INDFOR factions in ArmA 3.
Overview[]
A simple harness with a hydration pack attached, Chest Rigs provide a decent amount of storage space at minimal cost to the wearer's stamina. It weighs a "mass" of 20 and provides enough room for 140 units of ammunition/gear.
Capacity-wise, Chest Rigs possess the same amount of space as Tactical Chest Rigs. This makes the Chest Rig provide one of the best stamina-to-capacity ratios out of all (non-ballistic resistant) vests.
Given that Chest Rigs lack plate inserts however, they leave the wearer completely exposed to gunfire and explosions without a protective uniform worn underneath. Unless mobility is a concern, plate carriers that provide the same amount of storage space while offering protection would be an optimal choice over the Chest Rig.
Camouflage[]
- Green: Ranger green colour scheme.
- Khaki: Khaki brown colour scheme.
- Olive: Olive green colour scheme.
- Black: Black colour scheme.
Trivia[]
- Prior to Game Update 1.08, Chest Rigs provided a maximum capacity of 120 "mass" units only.[1]
- The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
- An unused icon (Texture name: icon_b_assaultpack_ca.paa[2]) for a different version of the Chest Rig exists within the game files. It appears to be a model for just the hydration pack itself and no harness included.[3]
- There is also another unused derivative of the Chest Rig that lacks the hydration pack, consisting only of the harness and magazine pouches.[4]
- The Black and Olive variants were initially known as the "Fighter Chestrig" until they were renamed with the release of the campaign's third episode.[5]
- Given that they were both functionally and aesthetically identical to regular Chest Rigs, it remains unclear as to why they were named differently.
