NOTE: This article is about CSAT LBV Harnesses in ArmA 3 itself. For its alternate counterpart in the semi-official Western Sahara Creator DLC, see LBV Harness (SFIA).

The LBV Harness is a vest worn by CSAT forces in ArmA 3.

Overview[]

A load bearing harness worn by all conventional CSAT soldiers, the LBV Harness provides enough space for up to 160 units worth of ammunition/gear. It does not have any plate inserts attached and weighs a meagre 30 "mass" units.

Since regular CSAT forces already wear bullet-resistant fatigues by default, the LBV Harness eschews plate inserts in favour of expanded item capacity; capable of storing 20 "mass" more than its NATO counterpart while weighing 50 units less.

At the same time, the LBV Harness' drawback stems precisely from its lack of ballistic protection. Without a ballistic uniform worn beneath it, the wearer's body will be completely exposed and risk severe injury and/or death by gunfire.

Camouflage[]

  • Brown: Khaki-coloured harness and pouches. Used by Mediterranean CSAT LBVs.
  • Grey: Pale tan-coloured straps/pouches with Urban Hexacam-camouflaged harness. Only used by CSAT's elite Guards troops.
  • Green Hex: Khaki-coloured straps with Tropic Hexacam-camouflaged pouches and harness. Exclusive to Pacific CSAT LBVs.

Trivia[]

  • The Grey variant is misleadingly named and isn't actually coloured in grey (the harness is camouflaged in CSAT's Urban Hexacam pattern).
  • At ArmA 3's launch, the LBV Harness only had a maximum load capacity of 120 "mass". It was also slightly heavier and weighed 40 "mass" instead of 30. This was changed after Game Update 1.06[1] and would be changed again to its current 160/30 "mass" with Game Update 1.44's release.[2]
The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
  • Until the release of the campaign's third episode, the LBV Harness featured a third sub-variant in addition to the alternate Grenadier vest.[3]
    • Known as the ELBV Harness (Classnames: V_HarnessOSpec_brn[4], V_HarnessOSpec_gry[5]), the ELBV used the same model as the basic LBV but featured increased storage capacity (up to a maximum of 160 "mass"). Its capacity was eventually transferred over to the basic LBV while the ELBV itself was rendered unusable in-game after Game Update 1.44[2] (but was not actually removed).
    • Players can still equip the vest by adding it via scripting commands - though both functionally and visually, it remains unchanged to the regular LBV Harness.
