Firing from Vehicles (short form: FFV) is a mechanic featured in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Helicopters DLC.

Overview[]

Arma3-OPREP-Screenshot-11

FIA guerilla firing out of the back of an Offroad.

Certain ground vehicles (both tracked and wheeled) as well as fixed/rotary-wing aircraft and seafaring vessels with transport capabilities, allow passengers in specific seating positions to fire their own weapons out of the vehicle/aircraft.

To "activate" FFV, the passenger needs to raise their primary or secondary weapon and optionally aim down the weapon's sights. On some helicopters and armoured ground vehicles, it may be necessary to open any closed hatches or ramps first.

To "deactivate" FFV, they must simply lower their primary weapon or holster their sidearm. Armoured vehicles like tanks will auto-disable FFV whenever the user buttons up their hatch.

A few (not all) FFV-enabled ground vehicles additionally support granting the passenger the ability to switch to their shoulder-fired launcher. However in order to do so, they must first turn out of the vehicle; doing so raises their clearance but also increases their likelihood of being shot.

Note that it is not possible to deploy bipod attachments regardless of whether they are integrated or externally-fitted. Automatic stabilisation via resting however, functions as per normal.

Supported aircraft (alphabetical)[]

CH-49 Mohawk[]

The rear two passenger seats on the AAF's CH-49 Mohawk are FFV-capable. They must lower the CH-49's ramp before they can fire out of it, however.

Shoulder-launched weapons cannot be fired out of the helicopter.

CH-67 Huron[]

Both armed and Unarmed variants of NATO's CH-67 Huron support FFV. The rear two passenger seats (located next to the ramp) can fire out of the helicopter, though they must lower the ramp first before they can do so.

The Unarmed Huron is the only variant that provides four FFV seats. Including the two ramp seats, the crew chief positions - where the Gatling guns were located - have been removed and are treated as FFV seats. They can fire out of the side windows without having to open any hatches/ramps.

Shoulder-fired launchers are not supported on either helicopter.

EH302[]

IDAP's EH302 transport helicopter provides two FFV-enabled positions; specifically the rear two ramp seats. They must lower the ramp first before they can shoot out of it.

Shoulder-launched weapons cannot be fired out of the helicopter.

MH-9 Hummingbird[]

NATO's MH-9 Hummingbird has a total of four FFV-enabled seats. They are all located on the passenger benches fixed onto both sides of the airframe. Passengers are not capable of utilising shoulder-launched weapons on the MH-9.

Mi-290 Taru[]

Only two specific variants of CSAT's Mi-290 Taru support FFV capability; the variants with passenger pods/benches pre-attached and fixed to the fuselage (the slingloadable pod counterparts retain the same functionality). This includes:

  • Bench (eight seats)
  • Transport (two seats; must lower ramp)

Firing launchers out of either variant is not supported.

WY-55 Czapla[]

LDF WY-55 Czapla gunships provide two FFV-capable seats. The door gunners on both sides of the baseline armed variant support FFV (the unarmed version does not support FFV).

Shoulder-launched weapons cannot be fired out of the helicopter.

WY-55 Hellcat[]

The AAF's WY-55 Hellcat only has one variant that supports FFV (specifically the default light gunship model but not unarmed). The two door gunners in the passenger cabin can fire out of the helicopter at all times.

Shoulder-launched weapons cannot be fired out of the helicopter.

Y-32 Xi'an[]

CSAT's Y-32 Xi'an VTOL only has one variant which supports FFV (Infantry Transport). The two rear passenger seats are the only positions that are FFV-enabled. They must lower the Y-32's ramp first before they can fire out of it.

Shoulder-launched weapons cannot be fired out of the VTOL.

Supported boats (alphabetical)[]

Assault Boat[]

Assault Boats utilised by all factions (including the Rescue sub-variants) provide a total of four FFV-capable "seats".

None of the positions allow the passenger to equip shoulder-fired launchers, however.

RHIB[]

Syndikat RHIBs enable all passenger "seats" to utilise FFV no matter where they're positioned on the boat.

Shoulder-fired launchers are not supported on any of the positions.

Supported ground vehicles (alphabetical)[]

AFV-4 Gorgon[]

AAF AFV-4 Gorgon infantry fighting vehicles allow their commanders to turn out and utilise FFV. Regardless, it is still not possible to equip shoulder-fired launchers.

AMV-7 Marshall[]

Commanders on NATO's AMV-7 Marshall can turn out and fire their own weapons. However, it remains impossible for the commander to equip and fire any launchers from their hatch position.

BTR-K Kamysh[]

The gunner and commander positions on CSAT's BTR-K Kamysh can turn out of the vehicle and utilise their own small arms in lieu of the BTR-K's weapon systems.

Shoulder-fired launchers are not supported even when turned out, however.

FV-720 Mora[]

Commanders on the AAF's FV-720 Mora can turn out to fire their own weapons. It is not possible to equip shoulder-fired launchers.

FV-720 Odyniec[]

The LDF's FV-720 Odyniec allows its commander to turn out and utilise FFV. However, shoulder-fired launchers are not equippable even when turned out.

HEMTT[]

NATO's HEMTT family of trucks feature two variants which support FFV; the Transport and Transport (Covered) variants, specifically.

Only the two rearmost seats of the flatbed can fire out of the trucks. They cannot equip any shoulder-fired launchers.

Offroad[]

Offroads operated by the FIA, LDF and IDAP support varying amounts of FFV-enabled seats depending on the variant:

  • Baseline/unarmed (four seats)
  • Comms (four seats; only rearmost two seats can utilise FFV properly)
  • Covered (four seats; only rearmost two seats can utilise FFV properly)

The baseline/unarmed Offorad allows the central two gunners to switch to their launchers. However, they must first stand upright onto the flatbed before they can actually do so.

Note that both the Comms and Covered variants technically feature four FFV-enabled seats, but only two (specifically the rearmost seated ones) can actually fire their weapons out of the Offroad. The two who sit next to the cab cannot utilise FFV properly unless the rear roof component has been detached. It is also not possible for them to shoot even if the rearmost passengers have disembarked/killed in action.

M2A1 Slammer[]

The commander position on NATO's M2A1 Slammer tanks can turn out to utilise FFV. Shoulder-fired launchers are not supported.

M2A4 Slammer UP[]

Commanders on M2A4 Slammer UP tanks employed by NATO forces can turn out to fire their own weapons. They are not capable of equipping shoulder-fired launchers even when turned out, however.

MB 4WD[]

Syndikat/IDAP MB 4WD offroads have variable numbers of FFV-enabled seats:

  • Baseline/unarmed (three seats)
  • AT (one seat)
  • LMG (one seat)

All FFV-enabled passengers can stand up (turn out) of their position and switch to a shoulder-fired launcher.

Prowler[]

No matter the variant, passenger seats on all NATO Prowlers support FFV. The armed Prowlers have two FFV seats, while the Unarmed/Light models provide a total of six seats.

The Unarmed/Light variants with the passenger "seated" in the turret ring can equip and fire shoulder-launched weapons.

Qilin[]

CSAT's Qilin light strike vehicle provides a total of five FFV-enabled seats. Only the Unarmed variant possesses a total of six FFV positions due to the lack of turret ring-mounted weaponry.

The Unarmed variant's FFV gunner can equip shoulder-fired launchers.

Tempest[]

Tempest trucks utilised by CSAT forces feature only two variants that support FFV. The rear two passenger seats on the Transport and Transport (Covered) can fire out of the truck.

FFV positions on either truck cannot utilise shoulder-fired launchers.

Truck[]

Unmodified FIA/Syndikat Trucks with empty flatbeds allow all passenger seats (aside from the cab passenger) to fire out of the vehicle.

Shoulder-fired launchers are not supported.

UGV Saif[]

CSAT's UGV Saif drones provide a single FFV-capable seat no matter the variant (armed/unarmed).

Shoulder-fired launchers cannot be utilised on either variant of the Saif.

UGV Stomper[]

NATO, AAF and LDF UGV Stomper drones feature a single FFV-enabled seat. Both armed and unarmed Stompers feature identical FFV limits.

Shoulder-fired launchers cannot be equipped no matter the variant.

Van[]

The Cargo and Transport Vans operated by the IDAP/FIA/Syndikat feature differing numbers of FFV-enabled seats:

  • Cargo (four seats; two side and two rear)
  • Transport (three seats; one side and two rear)

No matter the variant, Van FFV gunners must slide/swing open the vehicle doors first before they can start shooting out of them. None of the Vans allow their "gunners" to equip shoulder-fired launchers.

Zamak[]

Zamak trucks utilised by CSAT, the AAF and the LDF have two variants that support FFV for their passengers. Specifically, the rear two seats on the flatbed of the Transport and Transport (Covered) variants provide FFV capability.

Shoulder-fired launchers are not supported on either variant.
