Armament
The standard loadout of the FlakPz gives it a total of 640 high-explosive incendiary (HEI-T) and 40 high-velocity armour-piercing discarding sabot (HVAPDS-T) rounds for the twin 35 mm autocannons.

Features
The commander retains access to smoke generators and can deploy two salvos worth of smoke screens to conceal the vehicle against infrared- and wire-guided missiles.

Crew Capacity
The FlakPZ 1A1 has a maximum seating capacity of three for a crew that consists of the driver, gunner and a commander. It cannot transport any additional passengers.

Camouflage[]

NOTE: The FlakPz 1A1 has additional camouflage schemes for non-West German BLUFOR/REDFOR nations. Please note that these nations are not actually featured as playable factions in the DLC.

American[]

NOTE: Not featured as a playable faction.

Soviet[]

NOTE: Not featured as a playable faction.

West German[]

Protection[]

The FlakPz 1A1 has a base armour value of 600. It cannot be fitted with addon armour modules.

Hull[]

The FlakPz 1A1's hull can withstand up to 1,080 points of damage before its integrity fails. It takes 80% reduced damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions. 160% of incoming damage will always be shared with the FlakPz 1A1's main "health" pool.

Depletion of its integrity will always result in a catastrophic kill.

Engine[]

The FlakPz 1A1's engine can take a maximum of 270 points of damage before it fails. It takes 80% less damage from HE-type munitions. No damage inflicted upon the engine will be shared with the FlakPz 1A1's main "health" pool.

Tracks[]

The FlakPz 1A1's tracks consist of the treads, sprockets and wheels. Each of these components can be damaged individually and will progressively affect the FlakPz 1A1's mobility depending on the severity of damage and how many components remain intact:

  • The wheels, idlers and sprockets can each take a maximum of 200 points of damage. They take 200% additional damage from HE-type munitions.
  • Both treads can withstand up to 650 points of damage. They take 50% reduced damage from HE-type munitions.

In all cases, no damage to any of these components is shared with the FlakPz 1A1's main "health" pool.

Turret[]

The main turret's elevation and traverse systems can each withstand up to 180 points of damage before either component fails. They take 40% less damage from HE-type munitions. Damage to either of the components will not be shared with the FlakPz 1A1's main "health" pool.

Ammo storage basket[]

The FlakPz 1A1's ammunition storage basket can take a maximum of 1,200 points of damage before it explodes. It takes no damage from HE-type munitions, but 100% of incoming damage will always be shared with the FlakPz 1A1's main "health" pool.

Sensors[]

The FlakPz 1A1 is fitted with a radar specially designed for tracking helicopters and low-flying planes:

Sensor type Max range (Air/Ground) Min range (Air/Ground) Affected by environment? Target max speed (km/h) Azimuth coverage (°) Elevation coverage (°) Friendly identification range (m)
Active A: 15,000 m
G: 3,000 m
A: 15,000 m
G: 3,000 m
Terrain clutter (200 m) 324 km/h 360° 100° 8,000 m

Active Radar[]

The radar provides full horizontal coverage and is not limited by the radar's facing direction.

Components[]

NOTE: Cosmetic-only component modules with no gameplay effects are deliberately excluded from this section.

  • Add Camo Net - Hull: Applies camouflage netting over most of the FlakPz's hull (excluding the rear). Provides limited camouflage against the naked eye. Does not minimise the vehicle's thermal signature.
  • Add Foliage - Hull: Attaches numerous tree branches around the entire hull. Offers limited camouflage against the naked eye but does not reduce the vehicle's thermal signature.
  • Add Foliage - Turret: Attaches numerous tree branches around the turret (excluding the front half, autocannon barrels and radar dish). Provides camouflage against the naked eye but does not reduce the vehicle's thermal emissions.

Armament[]

The gunner exclusively controls the twin L/90 35 mm autocannons. Their day optics can toggle between two magnification modes; either 6x (Peri 6x) or 15x (Peri 1.5x) power:

L/90[]

Arma3-vehicleweapons-flakpz1a1-l90
Shell type Base damage value Damage type Aerodynamic friction Initial velocity (m/s) Penetration depth (mm)
HEI-T DM21 44.514 High-Explosive -0.000249387 1,175 28.883249
HVAPDS-T DM23 134.55 Armour Piercing -0.000135797 1,385 149.54

Twin 35 mm anti-aircraft autocannons. The autocannons can be fed with either HE or AP-type shells:

  • High-Explosive Incendiary (HEI): Dual-purpose munition. Muzzle velocity of 1,175 m/s, blast radius of 6.77 metres. It is partially capable of piercing through armour and can penetrate approximately ~ 28 millimetres of armour plating (direct impact only).
  • High-Velocity Armour-Piercing Discarding Sabot (HVAPDS): Anti-ground vehicle munition. Has a muzzle velocity of 1,385 m/s. Can penetrate up to ~ 149 millimetres of armour plating.

They can attain a fire rate of up to ~ 1,090 rounds per minute. Accuracy-wise, dispersion is always fixed at 0.0025 rad regardless of shell type. Manual zeroing is possible starting at a minimum of 100 m up to a maximum of 1900 m. Adjustments are made with 100 m increments/decrements.

If all shells have been depleted, it will take up to 60 seconds for the L/90's stockpile to be fully rearmed from a logistics truck or supply crate.

FFV[]

Both the gunner and commander are able to unbutton their hatches to fire weapons out of the vehicle.

Trivia[]

  • The ability to customise the FlakPz 1A1's appearance with camouflage nets and foliage was only added after the release of Update 1.3.[1]
  • Additional camouflage schemes for American and Soviet military forces were added in Update 1.5[2], though neither nation is actually featured as a playable faction in the DLC.
  • The FlakPz 1A1's real descriptive name ("Gepard") is deliberately omitted for licencing reasons.[3]

Notes[]

  1. It is technically possible to slingload the FlakPz 1A1 as its model has the necessary memory points for slings to be attached. However, this is only possible if the FlakPz 1A1's weight has been deliberately reduced to an acceptable threshold by using the setMass scripting command.
