The G36A1 is a 5.56 mm assault rifle used exclusively by West German military forces in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The G36A1 is a selective fire, gas operated assault rifle with a short-stroke piston, firing from a closed rotary bolt and chambered for the ubiquitous 5.56×45 mm cartridge.
It feeds exclusively from proprietary 30-round plastic magazines, and can attain a fire rate of up to ~ 652 rounds per minute on semi-auto[CfgWp 7][Formula 1] or 800 RPM when firing on full auto.[CfgWp 8][Formula 2] It has a muzzle velocity of 960 m/s.[CfgWp 9][Formula 3][note 1]
The G36A1's muzzle can be fitted with a 5.56 mm sound suppressor[CfgWp 10] but is unable to mount optical scopes as it utilises an integral telescopic sight. The sight has a fixed magnification of 5.81x zoom[CfgWp 11][CfgWp 12][Formula 4] and additionally has a backup (non-magnified) red dot reflex sight. Due to lacking rails on its handguard, the G36A1 is not able to mount a bipod. It is also incapable of having an IR/visible laser pointer or a flashlight be attached, nor is it possible to affix a bayonet since the G36A1 doesn't have a dedicated mount.
Variants[]
G36E[]

An export variant of the G36 platform, the G36E remains unused by any faction.
It is mostly identical in all aspects other than its lack of a reflex sight atop the primary scope which has been replaced with a basic ironsight instead. The reflex sight's removal results in the G36E being slightly lighter to carry by ~ 8%[CfgWp 15] and having a ~ 5% reduced inertia penalty (0.65537 down to 0.618748)[CfgWp 17] but the difference is negligible in practice.
It should also be noted that the ironsight has a fixed zeroing setting of 100 metres rather than 200 metres as featured on German military G36A1s.[CfgWp 19][CfgWp 20]
Optics[]

Zeroing for the G36A1's 5.81x zoom telescopic sight[CfgWp 11][CfgWp 12][Formula 4] cannot be manually adjusted and is always set to a fixed range of 200 metres.[CfgWp 21][CfgWp 22]
The rangefinder on the bottom-left hand side of the reticle can be used to measure 1.75 metre-tall human-shaped targets. The point of impact varies depending on the target's distance from the user:
- The centre of the reticle's crosshair (inside the innermost circle) represents the point of impact for targets at 200 metres range.
- The tip of the central post immediately below the centre of the crosshair (but still within the innermost circle) represents the point of impact for targets located 400 metres away.
- The first cross located underneath (and outside) the innermost circle represents the point of impact for targets positioned 600 metres away.
- The second and lowermost cross is used for targets located at a range of 800 metres.

Both G36 variants can load up to two types of magazines.[CfgWp 29][CfgWp 30] Both magazines share the same weight of 12.2444 "mass" units.[CfgMa 4][CfgMa 5]
It should be noted that the G36's magazines are of a proprietary design and are not interchangeable with other 5.56 mm rifles (including the G33/SG550):
5.56 mm 30Rnd G36 Ball DM11 Mag[]

Standard 30-round plastic magazine loaded with only 5.56 mm DM11 ball ammunition.[CfgMa 6]
None of the rounds fired will emit visible tracers.
5.56 mm 30Rnd G36 Ball-T DM21 Mag[]

Special magazine loaded exclusively with DM21 tracer ammunition.[CfgMa 7]
All thirty rounds of the magazine will emit visible red tracers.[CfgMa 8][CfgMa 9]

Trivia[]
- Neither the baseline G36A1 nor the "Export" ('E') variants were initially available as part of Global Mobilization's launch content. They were only added following the release of Update 1.3.[1]
- Prior to Update 1.3.5647, the G36E was not able to make use of the backup ironsights on its rail.[2]
- Update 1.6 corrected several issues with the G36's range limits and dispersion values for the AI. Previously, AI units wielding either variant of the G36 had the same dispersion values as human players, allowing them to hit targets with pinpoint accuracy at any distance.[3]
- The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
Pre-1.5 Desert/Tan G36A1.
- Athough its weapon class still exists (Classname: gm_g36a1_des) and can be unhidden through the use of a custom addon, the texture itself is seemingly no longer present within the DLC, meaning that it will simply appear as the default black G36A1.
