The GA Carrier Rig is a ballistic-resistant vest worn by AAF troopers, Altian government Loyalists and their FIA successors in ArmA 3.

Overview[]

A bulkier version of regular plate carrier vests worn by AAF troopers, the GA Carrier Rig provides enhanced protection for its wearer with the addition a pelvic guard and slightly larger abdomen plate. It weighs a total of 80 "mass" and provides storage space for up to 120 units of ammunition/equipment.

It is rated at Level III protection standards, the wearer's chest, diaphragm, abdomen and pelvis are protected by plates and a pelvic guard. Compared to its NATO counterpart, the GA Carrier Rig lacks in both protection and storage capacity. For instance, NATO's equivalent allows the wearer to store 140 units of items and each section of the vest has base armour values of 20 (with damage reduction modifiers of 80%). On the other hand, the GA Carrier Rig only has the inclusion of a pelvic guard while the rest of the vest has not changed statistics-wise.

Though it does weigh 20 "mass" less than the latter (80 versus 100), the GA Carrier Rig's compromises in protection and inventory space make it the less viable option of the two vests.

Trivia[]

  • The GA Carrier Rig was not originally available in the Alpha and would only be included into the base game's asset list with the game's full release.[1]
  • Visual tweaks were made to the GA Carrier Rig's model after the release of Game Update 1.40, primarily involving geometry fixes to minimise clipping issues when it was worn with non-AAF uniforms (e.g. NATO's Combat Fatigues).[2]
  • The GA Carrier Rig's model was originally shared with the GA Carrier GL Rig prior to the release of the Marksmen DLC.[3]
    • Its model is still reused as a basis for the GA Carrier GL Rig, as the only visible difference stems from the latter's inclusion of shoulder guards and extra pouches.
