The Heavy Team is an infantry unit in ArmA: Mobile Ops.
Overview[]
- Roles:
- Anti-vehicle/structure infantry
- Garrisoned anti-aircraft defence
« | The Heavy Team unit is equipped with small rocket launchers PCML (stands for Person-Carried Missile Launcher). The Heavy Team is slower than the Fire Team infantry units, has a smaller amount of HP and smaller firepower but is able to fire at longer distances. Office Description

Purpose[]
The second infantry-type squad unlocked at the Office, the Heavy Team serves as a longer ranged counterpart to the faster but shorter ranged Fire Team.
Strengths[]
While not as cheap to recruit as the Fire Team, the Heavy Team compensates by carrying long-ranged missile launchers into battle instead of assault rifles.
This makes them highly effective at taking down Walls and other defensive structures such as the Machine Gun, as they can immediately attack once they're within range. Fire Teams on the other hand, need to get much closer before they can retaliate.
Heavy Teams are also highly effective when garrisoned into Pillboxes, as their missile launchers are able to attack both ground and air units. Though their maximum range and arc of fire is the same as a bunkered-up Fire Team, the Heavy Team is far more useful and essentially functions as a cheaper and faster firing AT Launcher.
Weaknesses[]
A consequence of their increased range is a drastic decrease in firepower, mobility, and durability. Compared to Fire Teams, Heavy Teams have a lower DPS, slower movement speed, have two less squad members in total (with a final tally of four members), and have 60 less base HP.
This results in Heavy Teams being twice as vulnerable to splash damage-based defences and traps, as they lack the necessary HP and number of squad members to survive intact against them.
Usage[]
Their poor mobility isn't necessarily a downside however, since they move at the same pace as Wheeled UGVs and are only just slightly faster than Tracked UGVs. Unlike Force Recon or Fire Team squads, there is minimal risk of them running ahead of the drones and getting cut down in the process.
And because they outrange both drones (except for the Light UGV), the Heavy Team can safely attack defensive buildings from afar while the latter draw fire away from them, which helps to compensate for their lack of HP.
Like the Fire Team and all other infantry squads, the Heavy Team can gain veterancy bonuses over time so as long as they survive a battle with at least one member of the squad alive.
Abilities[]
Bloodlust[]

« | The unit will fire a barrage of rockets for 3 seconds which deal double damage. However, the unit also receives double damage during the barrage. Ability description
|
» |
A Bloodlusted Heavy Team squad gains a +50% damage bonus against whichever target it is currently attacking. This almost doubles the squad's DPS output and lets them cut down defences even more quickly. The only drawback is that the Heavy Team also takes 50% additional damage from any kind of defence or trap.
In the long run, the damage penalty is generally inconsequential since the buff will time out rather quickly and the extra damage dealt to the defence outweighs the downsides. Provided that the Heavy Team has other units drawing attention from the base defences, or the team itself is shielded by the Wheeled UGV's Take Cover ability, then activating Bloodlust constantly is perfectly fine to do.
Be aware that defences which were already able to inflict severe damage against Heavy Teams, will usually be able to kill the entire squad in one or two hits less than the usual amount that would be required.
Trivia[]
- Prior to Update 1.14, Heavy Teams lacked the Bloodlust ability and were only useful for their long-range attack.[1]
- As mentioned in its Shop Description, Heavy Teams exclusively use the PCML missile launcher from ArmA 3. The in-game PCML however, is shown with a comically high rate of fire compared to its ArmA 3 counterpart and is oddly capable of targeting aircraft as well.
