The Helmet SF Light is a ballistic-resistant helmet used by both the U.S. military and the AFMC's special operations units in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the CSLA Iron Curtain Creator DLC.

Overview[]

Worn by U.S. and AFMC special operations, the Helmet SF Light is a commercially available skateboarding helmet.

It comes in three versions: the baseline helmet with no customisations, a second with a pair of dust goggles strapped to the top, and a third with the dust goggles lowered. The baseline Helmet SF Light has a weight of 10 "mass" units while the variants with goggles included have a weight of 11 "mass".

Although it is meant to protect the wearer's head against bumps, hard surfaces, and indirect explosions rather than ballistic projectiles, the Helmet SF Light does offer a limited degree protection from ballistic projectiles. It will allow the wearer to survive a single point blank hit from a 9 mm pistol bullet. However, intermediate rifle cartridges will still bypass the helmet and inflict lethal damage upon the wearer regardless of range.

Trivia[]

  • CSLA's Helmet SF Light is modelled after skateboarding helmets designed by U.S.-based headgear manufacturer Pro-Tec (now a division of DYE Precision, Inc.).
  • Prior to Update 1.1, the goggles-fitted variants did not have any protective attributes and were also heavier by 1 "mass" (weighing 12 "mass"). The patch subsequently reduced the weight of the goggles-fitted variants by one and also made their protection consistent across all three helmets.[1]
