Armament
It is armed with a 105 mm rifled gun that can load and fire armour-piercing discarding-sabot (APDS-T) and high-explosive anti-tank multi-purpose (HEAT-MP-T) shells. In addition, it has two 7.62 mm medium machine guns fitted: one mounted coaxially, and a second above the turret's roof for use by the tank's loader.
The L/7 main gun has access to a total of 60 shells split between two types of munitions:
- 30 rounds of APDS-T shells
- 30 shells' worth of HEAT-MP-T
For the MG3 MMGs, their capacities differ depending on their mounting location. The coaxial MG3 feeds from 500-round belts. One is always pre-loaded and a further 5 are left in reserve for a combined total of 3,000 rounds. The loader's MG3 (mounted above the turret) feeds exclusively from 120-round belts stored in ammoboxes. Unlike the coaxial MG3, it only has 3 spares to reload from (for a total of 480 rounds).
Features
The gunner is able to activate a searchlight for better illumination against targets under low-light or poor weather conditions. The commander's optics have night vision capability and can also utilise a stereoscopic/coincidence rangefinder to acquire the distance of targets for the gunner.
Crew Capacity
The KPz 1A1's crew consists of a driver, the gunner, a commander, and the tank's loader. No passengers may be seated either within or externally.
It should be noted that no crew positions are able to swap seats with the loader (and vice versa) while they remain buttoned up. Getting into the loader's position requires dismounting from the tank and specifically choosing to get into the loader's seat.
Camouflage[]
NOTE: The KPz 1A1 has additional camouflage schemes for non-West German BLUFOR/REDFOR nations. Please note that these nations are not actually featured as playable factions in the DLC.
American[]
NOTE: Not featured as a playable faction.

West German[]
Protection[]
The KPz 1A1 has a base armour value of 600. It has the ability to mount addon armour in the form of eight side armour skirts on both sides of the hull.
Hull[]
The hull can resist up to 1,080 points of damage. It takes 80% reduced damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions. 160% of incoming damage is always shared with the KPz 1A1's main "health" pool.
Depletion of its integrity will always result in a catastrophic kill.
Hull Side Skirts[]

The hull's side skirts can withstand up to 200 points worth of damage.
Munition type | Damage reduction (%) | Velocity reduction (%) |
---|---|---|
Armour Piercing | 100 | 5* |
High-Explosive | 75* | None |
High-Explosive Anti-Tank | None | 5* |
Tandem High-Explosive Anti-Tank | None | 35* |
(*) Damage and velocity reductions only apply if the integrity of the side skirts has not been compromised
The side skirts take 200% additional damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions. Damage upon them will not be shared with the KPz 1A1's main "health" pool.
If destroyed, the side skirts must be reinstalled either by hand or with the help of a logistics truck.
Engine[]
The KPz 1A1's engine is able to withstand up to 270 points of damage. It takes 80% reduced damage from HE-type munitions. No damage inflicted upon the engine is shared with the tank's "health" pool.
Tracks[]
The tank's tracks consist of the treads, sprockets and wheels. Each of these components can be damaged individually and will progressively affect the KPz 1A1's mobility depending on the severity of damage and how many components remain intact:
- The wheels, idlers and sprockets can each take a maximum of 200 points of damage. They take 200% additional damage from HE-type munitions.
- Both treads can withstand up to 650 points of damage. They take 50% less damage from HE-type munitions.
In all cases, no damage to any of these components is shared with the tank's main "health" pool.
Turret[]
The main turret's mechanisms can withstand up to 180 points of damage. It takes 40% less damage from HE-type munitions. No amount of damage incurred is transferred to the KPz 1A1's "health" pool.
Gun barrel[]
Mechanisms for the turret's main barrel can resist up to 180 points of damage before it fails. No damage inflicted onto this component is transferred to the KPz 1A1's "health" pool. It takes 40% less damage from HE-type munitions.
Ammo storage[]
The KPz 1A1's ammunition storage containers can only withstand a maximum of 300 points of damage before they explode. They reduce up to 100% of incoming damage from HE-type munitions. Destruction of the containers will always result in a catastrophic kill as damage shared to the tank's main "health" pool is amplified by 800%.
Components[]
NOTE: Cosmetic-only component modules with no gameplay effects are deliberately excluded from this section.
- Add Camo Net - Gun: Drapes most of the gun barrel with camouflage netting. The camouflage nets do not mask the KPz 1A1's thermal signature.
- Add Camo Net - Hull: Covers the front of the hull with camouflage nets (the rear and both sides of the hull are not covered). The nets do not mask the tank's thermal signature.
- Add Camo Net - Turret: Covers the frontal aspect of the turret of the turret with camouflage nets (the rear and sides are not covered). The nets do not help mask the tank's thermal signature.
- Add Foliage - Hull: Attaches shrubbery and tree branches on all sides of the hull.
- Add Foliage - Turret: Attaches shrubbery and tree branches to the roof, sides, and front of the turret (the rear is only partially covered).
- Add Side Skirts: Mounted by default. "Disabling" this component will remove the addon armour skirts that are covering both sides of the hull.
Armament[]
NOTE: For specifics on the L/7's munitions, see its related section listed here.
The gunner position controls the main L/7 105 mm rifled gun and coaxial MG3 7.62 mm machine gun. Only the loader retains exclusive control over the turret roof-mounted MG3 (they must turn out first before they can make use of it).
The loader cannot toggle any enhanced vision modes or magnified optics. Only the gunner has access to a day sight (TEM-2A) which can switch between two fields of view with a magnification of either 8x/16x zoom. They can also switch to a third (unmagnified) periscope view for observation purposes. However, even the gunner is not able to toggle enhanced vision modes:
L/7[]

105 mm rifled gun. Can fire either anti-vehicle or anti-personnel shells.
The L/7 can fire one shell every 6 seconds (fire rate of 10 rounds per minute). It takes at least 6 seconds to switch between shell types or to fully rearm from a logistics truck or supply crate. Accuracy wise, the L/7 has a dispersion of 0.00068 rad.
Manual zeroing is possible, starting from a minimum of 200 m up to a maximum of 3600 m. Adjustments are made with increments/decrements of 200 m.
MG3[]

Base damage value | Aerodynamic friction | Initial velocity (m/s) | Penetration depth (mm) |
---|---|---|---|
11.76 | -0.00094464 | 820 | 11.07 |
7.62 mm medium machine guns. One is mounted above the loader's hatch while a second serves as the gunner's coaxial weapon.
MG3s can attain a fire rate of up to 1,200 RPM and have muzzle velocities of 820 m/s. Accuracy-wise, MG3s have a dispersion of 0.0009599 rad. It takes at least 8 seconds to reload either of the MG3s with a fresh belt (coax) or ammobox (roof).
Manual zeroing is possible on both MG3s, though their minimum/maximum limits differ depending on the mounting location (coaxial/turret roof). For the coax MG3, zeroing starts at 200 m and ends at 1200 m with adjustments being made with increments/decrements of 200 m. The roof's MG3 still has a maximum zeroing of 1200 m but has a minimum of 100 m instead. In the loader's case, their MG3 uses zeroing increments/decrements of 100 m.
FFV[]
Both the commander and loader can unbutton their hatches to fire small arms out of the tank. However, the loader must not be "using" the MG3 in order to utilise FFV (FFV is disabled while the MG3 remains manned).
Trivia[]
- At release, the KPz 1A1's driver position did not have an interior LOD and forced the driver to look through a pre-Tanks DLC 2D-style periscope view in first person. An actual interior (albeit a simplified one with non-Picture-in-Picture hatches) was only added after the release of Update 1.1.[1]
- The developers of Global Mobilization have stated that there are no plans to include a fully detailed interior.[2]
- Additional customisation options (camouflage schemes and components) were added after the release of Updates 1.3[3] and 1.5[4].
- The KPz 1A1's real descriptive name ("Leopard") is deliberately omitted for licencing reasons.[5]

Notes[]
- ↑ It is technically possible to slingload the KPz 1A1 as its model has the necessary memory points for slings to be attached. However, this is only possible if the KPz 1A1's weight has been deliberately reduced to an acceptable threshold by using the setMass scripting command.

- ↑ Mondkalb 2020, Regarding the tank interiors: It's a lot of work because of the massive amounts of intricate details required. This is time and effort that easily comparable with making an additional new vehicle.
