Kalochori (Altian: Καλοχώρι) is a settlement located on the island of Altis in the Republic of Altis and Stratis.
Overview[]
Situated just to the south of Paros, Kalochori is one of the eastern regions' twin cities that lie on the border with the southern peninsula.
At the height of the U.S.-led NATO invasion of Altis, Kalochori was the site of some of the fiercest and bloodiest battles in the short-lived conflict.[1][2] The town incurred heavy damage due to the extensive usage of artillery by NATO forces.[3]
History[]

AAF supply depot in the town centre (2035)
On August 10th, 2035[1], U.S.-led NATO forces continued to advance north-east in their attempt to surround government units cut-off from the main force in the southern peninsula. Kalochori was the only stronghold left in the way, as it was home to a supply depot being used to support the AAF's defensive lines.[4]
The opening phase of the battle began with NATO jets striking the AAF's anti-air vehicles near the solar farm. They were quickly destroyed, leaving the skies clear for helicopters to begin dropping off troops.[5] The infantry cut their way through the solar farm's defenders and regrouped on the south-western road leading into the town.[6]

Mechanised infantry from the 111th Infantry Division push into the town.
NATO artillery softened the town's defences, continuing their relentless bombardment with even cluster shells being dropped near the supply depot.[3] Ground forces then proceeded to move in to mop up the survivors.[7]
A few minutes after the town had fallen under NATO control, the AAF attempted to retake Kalochori by launching a counteroffensive, consisting of several tanks and troop carriers supported by a platoon of light infantry.[8] They raced towards the town but were completely wiped out by a combination of NATO airstrikes and artillery.[9]
Facilities[]
Solar Farm[]

Operated by the Agola power company, the farm was located to the city's south-west. It consists of two walled compounds that consist of generator spires and solar panel arrays.
During the NATO invasion, the AAF repurposed parts of the facility as a staging ground for a platoon of anti-air defences.[5] It suffered minor damage to its infrastructure when American forces attacked the facility but remained mostly intact in the aftermath of the war.[6]
Trivia[]
- Kalochori's real-world counterpart on the island of Lemnos, Greece, is the settlement of Kalliopi.
