Located in the far eastern corner of Stratis, the Kamino Firing Range was once a jointly-operated NATO/AAF dual purpose training facility. Trainees could practice their marksmanship on either one of the two firing ranges.
Kamino was also the site of several Course of Fire (CoF) marksmanship competitions, often sponsored by the Vrana Corporation and run by private contractors.[1][2] The facility was destroyed in July 2035.[3][4][5]
The following information is of ambiguous canonicity.
AMBIGUOUS INFORMATION
However, by mid-July 2039, the facility appears to have been rebuilt and is now used as a training facility for small groups of NATO soldiers.[6]
History[]
Corporal Ben Kerry witnesses the destruction of Kamino at the hands of the AAF (2035)
On July 7th, 2035[3], the last elements of the U.S.-led peacekeepers of Task Force Aegis were preparing to decommission the remaining NATO installations on the island; Kamino being amongst the few that were left.[7]
However, the peacekeepers at Kamino, as well as those scattered at otherinstallations throughout the island, would suddenly find themselves under attack by the local AAF garrison. Several explosions rocked the installation[4] and the peacekeepers, caught completely by surprise, stood no chance against the AAF. The officer in charge at Kamino attempted to request for reinforcements but would be killed shortly after his message was sent out.[5][8]
It would not be until more than one month later that the U.S. Army's 111th Infantry Division (111th ID) would retake what was left of Kamino and the rest of Stratis.[3][9][10] The projected cost of damages to Kamino and other installations totalled in the billions of dollars.[11]
Facilities[]
Firing ranges[]
Two firing ranges were available, one facing north and designed for long-range sniping, while the smaller range facing south-west was intended for close/intermediate-range shooting.
Several hundred metres to the north-west of the main facility (on the other side of the coast), a dilapidated home and unfinished building both serve as obstacles for training purposes.
Obstacle course[]
The facility's grounds were often repurposed into obstacle courses for running CoF trials.
Lighthouse[]
While not technically considered a part of Kamino, a lighthouse is situated above the hill directly to the south of the range itself. It overlooks the entire bay and north-eastern coastline.
Trivia[]
Prior to the Apex expansion's release (which drastically altered ArmA 3's main menu screen[12]), a scripted sequence of the Kamino Firing Range being attacked by three NATO fireteams against two (defending) CSAT fireteams and a unique menu-specific loop of This Is War would always play in the background.

To that end, additional support is required across at Camp Rogain and Kamino; however, an AAF lockdown is making the process all the more difficult. The Greenback brass are due to visit (more than likely to protest against our work, our flags, our very presence - the same old, same old). Most of the roads are closed. Those which are actually open have our friendly neighborhood watch closely monitoring them. At the moment, only specially authorized vehicles are currently permitted freedom of movement. Airspace is open, but it's heavily restricted. We'll have to assess the situation on-the-fly to determine what work we can actually get done. Bring a good book, though, it's nailed on that there'll be plenty of hanging around today."

↑ARMA 3 2014 [Video Game], Bohemia Interactive a.s., The East Wind, New Dawn, "Last night we launched a simultaneous attack on Stratis and Altis. While we've been successful in capturing Stratis - re-establishing command over Stratis Air Base - NATO forces on Altis, in part due to CSAT involvement, have failed to secure the main airport. Now, although we managed to regroup in the south, recon reports indicate our enemy is preparing a counterattack to drive us into the sea. Our forces here are readying to redeploy to the main island in support. After his arrival to Stratis, Cpl. Kerry was quickly debriefed, describing the events of the AAF'ssurprise attack against our facilities. Although his information is somewhat inconsistent with NATO's own intel, his presence is requested by Col. Armstrong."

A Freedom of Information request revealed that this is mostly attributed to heavy material losses and the destruction of strategic installations. And, with several hundred dead soldiers, this month-long flashpoint looks set to become one of the most costly NATO operations in recent history. In past few months - and alongside the ongoing economic crisis - both the strength and integrity of the North-Atlantic Alliance has come into question in what many consider to be a critical turning point for NATO.", AAN News
