The L2A1 LMG is a 7.62 mm light machine gun used by Australian and New Zealand military forces in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The L2A1 is a light support weapon configuration of the L1A1 rifle. The full length of the barrel is left exposed to improve its cooling during automatic fire.
It feeds primarily from 30-round straight box magazines but is also able to accept lower capacity 20- and 10-round magazines. The L2A1 can attain a fire rate of either 750 rounds per minute on semi-auto[CfgWp 8][Formula 1] or ~ 740 RPM on full auto[CfgWp 9][Formula 2] and has a muzzle velocity of 850 m/s.[CfgWp 10] L2A1s feature an integral folding bipod[CfgWp 11] but otherwise cannot be fitted with optical sights, bayonets, camouflage wraps or suppressors.
Although the L2A1 is technically considered to be an LMG, the L2A1 is not capable of serving as a "machine gun" in the conventional sense (nor is it designed to be). It is simply a selective-fire rifle that is capable of toggling a fully automatic fire mode.[CfgWp 12]

Ironsights[]

The L2A1 LMG's ironsights can be manually zeroed starting from a minimum of 200 metres up to a maximum of 800 metres (200, 400, 600, 800).[CfgWp 13] By default, it is set to a zeroing of 200 metres.[CfgWp 14]
Melee[]
Melee attacks with the L2A1 will involve striking targets with a buttstroke. The attack will inflict a maximum of 7 points of damage if the buttstroke successfully connects with the target.[CfgAm 1] 6.16 points of stamina will be drained[Formula 3] whenever a buttstroke is performed.[SCR 1]

The L2A1 can load eight types of magazines:[CfgWp 15]
- There are four kinds of 30-rounder magazines. Two of these magazines use a straight box design while the other two use a curved shape. They all share the same weight of 11 "mass" units.[CfgMa 6][CfgMa 7]
- Two magazines have a capacity of ten rounds. These magazines have a weight of 5 "mass" units.[CfgMa 8]
- The remaining two magazines have a capacity of twenty rounds. These magazines share the same weight of 8 "mass" units.[CfgMa 9]
All of these magazines are fully interchangeable with the L1A1 rifle and its derivatives but cannot be fed into the M14/XM21:

Trivia[]
- The L2A1 was not initially included as part of the DLC's launch assets. It was only added after the release of Update 1.2.[1]
- Whenever the L2A1 is switching between different magazine types, the magazine's appearance will not immediately change until the reloading animation finishes (i.e. tactical reload to swap from a 20-rounder to a 10-round magazine; the magazine will still appear as a 20-rounder until the reload is complete).
- The L2A1's recoil was adjusted to more closely match the M14's recoil after Update 1.31's release.[2]

Notes[]
- ↑ Only applies to the magazine itself. The L2A1's weapon class has its own initSpeed value defined (850 m/s).
- ↑ This is the L2A1 LMG's actual muzzle velocity. The weapon class initSpeed value (850 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (820 m/s).
- ↑ Damage will be reduced if the projectile's velocity drops below this value.
- ↑ This is the actual penetration depth of the L2A1 LMG's 7.62 mm ammunition. The weapon class initSpeed value (850 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (820 m/s), affecting its penetration formula as a result.
