« | The Low-Profile Night Vision Goggles (LPNVG) are a lightweight, low-profile alternative to the cumbersome night vision devices that are standard issue to NATO forces. Thanks to their modular design, they can be easily modified to include features such as Thermal Imaging (LPNVG-T). Field Manual

The LPNVG is an optoelectronic device used exclusively by MJTF units in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Expeditionary Forces Creator DLC.
Overview[]
The Low-Profile Night Vision Goggles (LPNVG) are only issued to Marines of the MJTF. It is only available in two colour schemes: Black and Tan. The basic LPNVG has a weight of 20 "mass" units.[CfgWp 1] For LPNVG-Ts that have a thermal clip-on module attached, they are slightly heavier and have a total weight of 25 "mass" units instead.[CfgWp 2]
Compared to standard-issue night vision goggles utilised by the MJTF's counterparts in the Army, the LPNVG uses amber phosphor instead of green phosphor.[CfgWp 3][CfgWp 4] However, the LPNVG still does not provide the user with a panoramic field-of-vision.
The basic NV-only LPNVG model only allows the user to toggle a night vision mode.[CfgWp 5] LPNVG-Ts on the other hand, share the same multi-vision capability of ENVG-IIs[CfgWp 6] and allow the user to toggle an orange-hot thermal vision mode as well.[CfgWp 7]

Trivia[]
- Expeditionary Forces' LPNVG is directly based on the real-world "PVS-21" night vision goggles[1], though its usage of an amber-coloured filter instead of green is fictitious and was chosen purely for UX reasons.[2]
- The information below details unused, pre-release or removed content.
- The DLC's developers initially wanted to replicate the Conformal Enhanced Heads Up Display (CEHUD) capability featured on real PVS-21s[3], but this was scrapped due to engine limitations and the potential feature being deemed too complex to implement.[4][5]
