Design[]
The Lada is a deluxe compact sedan car with a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive layout.
Features
Popular amongst wealthier families in the former Soviet Union, the Lada continues to see use throughout many ex-USSR territories. Though it lacks the speed and comfort of modern family cars, the Lada's reliability is second to none and is simple to maintain.
Mobility
Handling-wise, Ladas are similar to the older GAZ and German-made Hatchback, sharing the exact same turn rate.[CfgVh 6] Where the Lada differs from both is that it is slightly slower than them (the Lada can only attain a top speed of ~ 98 km/h even with turbo).
In addition, its top speed is only attainable while driving on paved roads. Whilst it remains off-road, the Lada will struggle heavily just like the Hatchback.[CfgVh 7] When it comes to brakes, the Lada takes a little longer than the GAZ to come to a full stop.[CfgVh 8]
Crew Capacity
Ladas contain enough seats for the driver and up to three passengers.[CfgVh 1]
Camouflage[]
- Decorated: Multi-colour scheme with a variety of patterns.
- Militia: Amber orange/white colour scheme. Used exclusively by Chernarussian provincial policemen and militias.
- Red: Bright red paint scheme.
- Rusted: Heavily rusted pale light green paint scheme.
- White: All-white paint scheme.
Protection[]
Ladas have a base armour value of 20.[CfgVh 9]
Successful strikes to any of the following highlighted sections will inflict full damage to the component:
Body[]
The vehicle's body can withstand up to 20 points of damage.[CfgVh 10][Formula 1] Depletion of its integrity will always result in the vehicle's destruction.[CfgVh 11]
Engine[]
The Lada's engine can only take a maximum of 8 points of damage before it fails.[CfgVh 12][Formula 2] At least 20% of incoming damage will be shared with the vehicle's main "health" pool. The Lada can explode if it is at or near critical "health" status at the time of the engine's destruction.[CfgVh 13]
Fuel tank[]
The Lada's fuel tank can only withstand up to 6 points of damage before it ruptures.[CfgVh 14][Formula 3] At least 50% of incoming damage will be shared with the vehicle's main "health" pool. The Lada can explode if it is at or near critical "health" status when the fuel tank is destroyed.[CfgVh 15]
Wheels[]
Each of the Lada's four wheels can take up to 6 points of damage before their tyres burst.[CfgVh 16][CfgVh 17][CfgVh 18][CfgVh 19][Formula 4] Up to 30% of incoming damage to any of the wheels will be shared with the vehicle's main "health" pool. The Lada can potentially explode if it is at or near critical "health" status when all four wheels are destroyed.[CfgVh 20][CfgVh 21][CfgVh 22][CfgVh 23]
Defensive sensors[]
The Lada is not equipped with defensive sensors. The driver will not be warned if a guided weapon and/or projectile is attempting to acquire or has already managed to acquire a lock onto the vehicle.[CfgVh 24][CfgVh 25]

- Main article: AI Basics: Targeting priority
The Lada is considered to be a medium-risk threat[3] to AI-controlled infantry units, ground vehicles, and aircraft (0.5/0.5/0.5).[CfgVh 28] AI will only engage the Lada if there are no other more threatening/higher value targets within range.
Noise factor[]
- Main article: AI Basics: Detection

Trivia[]
- ArmA 2's Ladas are modelled after the 1975 "VAZ-2103" designed by the Russian automobile manufacturer VAZ (Volzhsky Avtomobilny Zavod, now branded as AvtoVAZ).
- Prior to the latest Steam version updates which renamed the vehicle (as part of CorePatch)[5], Ladas were previously known as the "VAZ".[6]
