Le Moule is a settlement located on the main island of Everon in the Everon Socialist Republic.

Overview[]

The village of Le Moule is located on the western side of Everon. The crossroads at the centre of the village splits off in three directions. Taking the northern road will lead to Villeneuve. Going north-west will lead towards the coastal village of Lamentin, while continuing south along the main road will pass by the settlement of Richemont.

It has a farm and fruit orchards scattered around the village's outskirts. However, the thick forests that surround Le Moule on all sides make it an ideal location for harvesting Everon's world-renowned timber.[1]

History[]

On May 5th, 1985[2], rogue Soviet troops under the command of General Aleksei Guba invaded and forcibly occupied the entirety of Everon.[3] U.S.-led NATO forces soon responded to the invasion[4] and liberated several villages along the central and southern coast of Everon, though they were driven back to Morton after Guba mustered a counterattack and successfully reoccupied the village of Regina.[5]

Five days later on May 10th, U.S. troops established a small camp on the outskirts of Le Moule while they waited for further orders.[5] The Americans fought off multiple attacks by Soviet recon squads[6] but would eventually be forced into a tactical retreat after Guba launched a massive counterattack across the entire island on May 13th.[7][8] NATO forces would not return to Everon until over a month later on June 20th.[2]

However, even though the initial phase of the counterinvasion was successful[9], the Americans were soon attritted by stiff Soviet defences along the central and southern regions of the island.[10] The front line at Le Moule was fiercely contested and both sides took heavy losses. The Americans failed to seize it even after several attacks[11], whilst the Soviets' grip over the village was tenuous at best as they suffered from a shortage of ammunition and manpower. As such, control over Le Moule continued to exchange hands until the Americans managed to bolster their side of the front line with additional reinforcements.[2][12][13]

U.S. helicopters intercept Soviet supply convoys passing through to Le Moule (1985)

The tides of battle further shifted in favour of the Americans when armed transport helicopters and gunships intercepted multiple Soviet supply convoys along the Morton-Le Moule MSR.[14] With their supplies cut off and reinforcements destroyed[15], Soviet lines at Le Moule soon collapsed. The Americans had achieved their much-needed breakthrough, and could now continue their advance further south towards Levie.[2][16]

Owing to its colourful, bipartal history and the direct actions of Louis the Just of France, who welcomed Bohemian settlers in the early 17th Century, it is now a Czech-speaking microstate with a flourishing Franco-Bohemian culture. Known throughout the world for its superior timber, quality tonewood and wooden products, Everon is also an important stop-over for transatlantic trade. The capital, Saint-Philippe, and its sister town, Saint-Pierre, are both home to major ports, handling thousands of tons of maritime freight every year., ARMA REFORGER MARKETING AND BRAND GUIDE Version 1.01 - 04.04.2022, viewed 18 November 2024, <arma_reforger_marcom_guide3.pdf>.

The Everon Freedom Alliance has no quarrel with NATO. ARMSTRONG: The Everon Freedom Alliance, is it? SLAVA: A grand name for a poor band of men and women who simply wish to see our Russian visitors leave this island as quickly as possible. Preferably in coffins, of course. ARMSTRONG: I know how you feel. SLAVA: I'm not sure that you do. This is our home. We will defend it at all costs. You Americans, now you have seen a few Russians, you're running away, like a chicken seeing the hawk. ARMSTRONG: Hey, man! Who are you calling chicken? We didn't ask for this fight - and we're doing the best we can! One minute I'm in a training camp, then all my friends are dead! SLAVA: I am sorry about your friends. But I have lost everything during these few days. They killed my wife. They killed my boy. They burned my house. There are few things remaining in my life. And this group of people is one of them. ARMSTRONG: I... I'm sorry. The Russians are killing civilians? Why would they do that? They want to control this island, not to slaughter. SLAVA: My friend, you have obviously no idea who we are facing. These soldiers are so far from central government that we are not sure if they obey orders from Moscow or from some other source. We are at the end of the world. And the Russians here show us how they hate this place."

The last communications that came from the island reported heavy military activity in and over the streets. From what we can ascertain, Everon has been occupied by a hostile force, origin unknown. As the only NATO presence in the area it is our job to respond."

Took it, as ordered - and held on to it for about two whole minutes. Jesus, what a mess. While I was still catching my breath, this tank platoon comes charging in from the South, and all hell breaks loose. To be honest, I was lucky to make it out alive. Some weren't so lucky. There are more empty spaces in our parade line. No-one says anything, but we all notice them. Ivan's getting stronger in the South, but it looks the central part of island is almost under NATO control. Seems like we’re settling in for a long fight here."
