Le Moule is a settlement located on the main island of Everon in the Everon Socialist Republic.
Overview[]
The village of Le Moule is located on the western side of Everon. The crossroads at the centre of the village splits off in three directions. Taking the northern road will lead to Villeneuve. Going north-west will lead towards the coastal village of Lamentin, while continuing south along the main road will pass by the settlement of Richemont.
It has a farm and fruit orchards scattered around the village's outskirts. However, the thick forests that surround Le Moule on all sides make it an ideal location for harvesting Everon's world-renowned timber.[1]
History[]
On May 5th, 1985[2], rogue Soviet troops under the command of General Aleksei Guba invaded and forcibly occupied the entirety of Everon.[3] U.S.-led NATO forces soon responded to the invasion[4] and liberated several villages along the central and southern coast of Everon, though they were driven back to Morton after Guba mustered a counterattack and successfully reoccupied the village of Regina.[5]
Five days later on May 10th, U.S. troops established a small camp on the outskirts of Le Moule while they waited for further orders.[5] The Americans fought off multiple attacks by Soviet recon squads[6] but would eventually be forced into a tactical retreat after Guba launched a massive counterattack across the entire island on May 13th.[7][8] NATO forces would not return to Everon until over a month later on June 20th.[2]
However, even though the initial phase of the counterinvasion was successful[9], the Americans were soon attritted by stiff Soviet defences along the central and southern regions of the island.[10] The front line at Le Moule was fiercely contested and both sides took heavy losses. The Americans failed to seize it even after several attacks[11], whilst the Soviets' grip over the village was tenuous at best as they suffered from a shortage of ammunition and manpower. As such, control over Le Moule continued to exchange hands until the Americans managed to bolster their side of the front line with additional reinforcements.[2][12][13]

U.S. helicopters intercept Soviet supply convoys passing through to Le Moule (1985)
The tides of battle further shifted in favour of the Americans when armed transport helicopters and gunships intercepted multiple Soviet supply convoys along the Morton-Le Moule MSR.[14] With their supplies cut off and reinforcements destroyed[15], Soviet lines at Le Moule soon collapsed. The Americans had achieved their much-needed breakthrough, and could now continue their advance further south towards Levie.[2][16]
