Le Port is a town located on the south-east side of Malden.
The hill of Monte notably cuts through the centre of the town, and a few residents operate their own private vineyards. True to its namesake ("The Port"), its harbours serve as a transit hub for industrial shipping and ferries for international tourists.[1][2]
The military base, located across the bay to the east, was once home to a U.S. military training facility and air defence radar installation[1], though it has long since been decommissioned after the end of the Cold War.[3]
History[]
U.S. defenders are overrun by Guba's forces (1985)
Outnumbered, a handful of U.S. Armytroops remained behind and attempted to repel the invaders but were unsuccessful and were forced to retreat north towards the main NATOairbase.[6] For more than two weeks, Le Port would continue to remain occupied by Guba's rogue forces until June 18th[4], when the entire island was liberated and the last of the General's troops were defeated.[7]
At the turn of the early 21st century, the onset of an economic depression throughout Western countries[8][9][10][11] would see to a unilateral U.S. withdrawal from Malden.[12][13] Their departure would be heralded with the arrival of Chinese and North African-led CSAT forces, who were invited at the request of the Maldenian population to plug the security vacuum.[14]
This new status quo would remain as such until July 24th, 2035[4], when the U.S. Navy's 6th Fleet attempted to secure safe passage through to the Straits of Gibraltar.[15] Their plans were complicated by the presence of Chinese military forces; specifically, a squadron of air superiority fighters which posed a significant security risk to the 6th Fleet.[14]
Fortunately, the Chinese government downplayed their concerns and insisted that they would allow the Americans to sail through safely. However, the same could not be said for the North Africans, who threatened that they would immediately attack the fleet if any attempt to transit through was made.[16][17]
U.S. forces lay siege upon Le Port in the early hours of the 24th (2035)
Left with no alternative, the 6th Fleet would be forced to delay their primary mission and were rerouted to neutralise the North Africans.[14] Before they could unload the bulk of their ground forces onto Malden's soil, Le Port's defensive fortifications would have to be taken out first. Scouts sighted their positions and marked them for naval artillery and airstrikes.
Light infantry from the U.S. Army's21st Brigade Combat Team, 111th Infantry Division (21st BCT, 111th ID) would then proceed to capture the town and by morning, the rest of the 21st's ground forces would be able to prepare for their next phase of the invasion.[4][18]
Facilities[]
Power plant[]
On the western side of the town, a diesel power plant is built inside the industrial complex next to one of the two main harbours at grid 076-033.
Harbours[]
Le Port's industrial harbours are divided into two locations, one at grid 077-031 overlooking the Baie du Port and another at 084-038.
Ferries are also known to operate from Le Port's harbours for tourists travelling between the Malden islands group. Two lines specifically connect to Vidlákov (Nogova) and Morton (Everon).[19]
Petrol station[]
Malevil operates a petrol station on the northern end of town. It is located right next to the local supermarket.

Our former base, here, to the north of the main airport, is now a major concern. China's got a squadron of long-range aircraft there. Shikras. Brass tacks: we need air superiority over the Gibraltar Straits - if we don't have that, we can't invadeAltis and Stratis."

The invasion simply cannot fail."

China has attempted to de-escalate the crisis by allowing us to land a temporary holding force to monitor its long-range jets. However, troops from CSAT's North African member states are against us. They've retreated inland with some armored assets and man-portable AA systems, harassing our troops from afar."
↑ARMA 3:Tac-Ops 2017 [Video Game], Bohemia Interactive a.s., Stepping Stone, Fait Accompli, "However, African troops from CSAT's Scimitar Regiment are non-compliant. They've withdrawn into the island's interior, taking some tanks and man portable AA systems with them, here and possibly here, as well. Obviously, this is some kind of... delaying tactic. But for what? It's hard to say. Our response has been about denying the enemy time. Hence, this bridgehead to the south, down here at the harbor near Le Port. If we push west, we can sever logistics and open up another front outside Chapoi and Cancon."
