Spinoff noncanon
SPIN-OFF: The following information stems from a spin-off expansion or third party Creator DLC and is considered to be non-canon in the main Armaverse timeline.

ArmA: Mobile Ops' Liberator of Lignos campaign has players assume the role of the newly assigned commander of the Task Force. The story is set on the Mediterranean island of Atida, which has recently fallen under occupation by a high-tech guerilla force that seized control and installed a puppet government following a successful coup d'etat.

Summary[]

The Task Force begin raiding the guerilla encampments scattered throughout the island.

Under the leadership of the Task Force's new commander, the invasion of Atida begins with a full scale assault against one of the main guerilla bases located on the west side of the island.

After the base is destroyed, Colonel Martin advises the commander that they ought to continue pressing their advantage. They establish a hidden forward operating base on the newly secured beachhead but are soon discovered by a small guerilla scouting party.

Fortunately, the scouts are quickly eliminated, and the Task Force begins pushing eastward against the guerillas, who at this point are still completely unaware of their presence.

« Did anyone mention our local contact to you? Let me introduce Sophia. Ah, is that surprise I see on your face?
John Preston reveals the informant to the commander
»

The Task Force razes two guerilla outposts along the way, and the commander is soon introduced to a local informant by John Preston called Sophia Angelis. Sophia explains that for the past six weeks, she has been attempting to discover the true identity of the leader in charge of the guerillas but to no avail. She continues to update the commander on her status as she follows one lead after another.

Eventually, she does manage to identify the guerilla leader by infiltrating one of the camps. The elusive leader turns out to be none other than General Kostas, the shadowy figurehead who was responsible for leading the country's coup d'etat. Thanks to Sophia's information, several of Kostas' bases are rooted out and destroyed one by one.

Despite having lost many of his supply caches, the ruthless leader initially dismisses the Task Force as nothing more than a minor threat, repeatedly mocking the commander on their inability to find anything other than "empty" warehouses. Sophia later divulges the location of one of Kostas' major supply bases; which incidentally was the same one where she discovered his identity the day before.

One of Kostas' many supply bases, moments before the Task Force raze it to the ground.

Though he mocks the commander again before the attack commences, Kostas begins to suspect that there might be a spy amongst his ranks given how easily his caches were found by the Task Force. Kostas correctly surmises that the source of the leak must be Sophia. She gets kidnapped by the guerillas and is quickly placed into custody in one of their hideouts.

« Have you seen Sophia lately? You look worried. Man, I'm telling you this is no good. She never missed a meeting before.
Preston notes Sophia's conspicuous absence
»

Knowing how vital she is to the continued success of their operation (not to mention the commander himself having a personal interest in seeing to her safety), Preston and the commander lead an off-the-record mission to rescue her.

Unfortunately, they are unable to find her even after searching several camps. To make matters worse, Preston also ends up getting captured after his unit is ambushed by the guerillas. Martin urges the commander to focus on retrieving Preston first, which he eventually (albeit reluctantly) chooses to do, setting aside Sophia's rescue in the meantime. Though they initially encounter two dead ends due to poor intel, Preston is eventually found and freed by the Task Force, rejoining the commander in resuming the search for Sophia. Eventually, they manage to find her real location and free her before she could be executed.

Now with Sophia back, the Task Force finally resume their primary mission. Her intel leads them to the destruction of several more important supply caches, cutting off a major escape route by seizing the northern main harbour, and even destroying one of Kostas' personal bases that had an experimental railgun cannon that was smuggled in by the guerillas.

Kostas' mountain base.

« Martin: This is it, Commander. The last enemy stronghold is on that mountain top. Conquer it and we end this bloody war!
Kostas: How on earth did you get this far? Impossible! All right, come. Let's make it quick.
Martin advises the commander one last time as Kostas voices his disbelief at the commander's progress
»

Surrounded on all sides, Kostas makes a defiant last stand at his only remaining base located on the top of a mountain on the eastern side of Atida. Despite throwing everything that he had at the Task Force, with mortars, heavy cannons, helicopter drones and even another smuggled railgun, the last of his supplies and troops are wiped out in the attack.

With Kostas himself arrested and taken away to be tried for war crimes, Atida is declared to be liberated at last. Alongside the commander, Martin, Preston, and Sophia celebrate their hard-fought victory together.
