The Light UGV is a drone unit in ArmA: Mobile Ops.
Overview[]
- Role:
- Combat support vehicle
« | Fully automatic and AI controlled, this drone buggy is equipped with a cannon and light armor plating. It has less HP but is faster and its weapon has a longer range and deals more damage than the Wheeled UGV. Office Description

Purpose[]
Unlocked with a Level 7 Office, the Light UGV serves as the alternate counterpart to the Wheeled UGV.
Strengths[]
The Light UGV essentially functions as a faster version of the Wheeled UGV (but weaker in terms of hit points). They share the same advantage of only requiring one slot at the Barracks, which means that mass numbers of Light UGVs can deployed per battle.
Thanks to its long-ranged dual rocket pods, the Light UGV can safely attack Walls without taking fire from shorter-ranged defensive structures like the Machine Gun before they start moving in to engage. In this respect, it can be compared to the Heavy Team infantry squad. But as opposed to the likes of the Heavy Team, the Light UGV moves faster and is less vulnerable to being taken out by Mortars.
Weaknesses[]
In a straight up fight against more durable defensive structures like Autocannons, Light UGVs will not last long since they have ~ 90% less HP than Wheeled UGVs. Its high movement speed can also work against the Light UGV since it will race ahead of other slower units instead of letting damage sponges like the Tracked UGV draw fire.
Usage[]
Their true utility shines in providing support to other friendly ground drones. Whereas the Wheeled UGV only shields infantry squads and reduces the damage they take, the Light UGV is able to repair the damage incurred by vehicles near it. This makes it extremely useful in drawn out battles where your heavier ground vehicles (like the Tracked UGV) are bound to take plenty of damage.
Since Light UGVs are faster than both Wheeled and Tracked UGVs, you should always deploy them after the defending player's walls have been breached first. This will prevent the Light UGVs from wasting their Spare Parts ability during the initial attack, and at the same time will prevent them from dashing forward and getting destroyed in the process.
Like all drone-type units, the Light UGV does not gain any veterancy bonuses from winning battles and can only be improved with upgrades researched at the Comms Centre.
Abilities[]
Spare Parts[]

Once used, the Light UGV will restore a portion of the hit points of all damaged ground vehicles near it. The effect is applied instantly to both friendly vehicles and the Light UGV itself, and does not have a staggered delay.
Despite what its in-game description states, Spare Parts does not actually repair vehicles to full HP on activation. It will usually restore up to half (in the case of Tracked UGVs) or 90% of a Wheeled UGV's maximum HP. The amount recovered is generally more noticeable as your vehicles are gradually upgraded over time since Spare Parts' recovery effects do not scale with upgrades.
Nonetheless, Spare Parts is essential to any ground-based assault since it will increase the sustainability of your ground units. Tracked UGVs in particular, benefit the most from this ability since their large HP pool and slow mobility guarantees that they will take the brunt of the damage during an attack.
Spare Parts does not affect infantry squads for obvious reasons. It also cannot be used to repair Hexacopter Drones, Helicopter Drones, or X35 Jets.
Trivia[]
- The Light UGV's in-game Office Description erroneously states that it is armed with a cannon.
- Light UGVs did not have the ability to repair other vehicles until the release of Update 1.14.[1]
