Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The M1918A2 Browning Automatic Rifle (BAR) is an air-cooled, gas operated light machine gun that is chambered to fire the 7.62×63 mm cartridge.
It feeds exclusively from 20-round box magazines and has a muzzle velocity of 860 m/s.[CfgWp 8] M1918A2s can be fitted with a dedicated folding bipod[CfgWp 9] but do not allow for suppressors, camouflage wraps, nor optical sights to be mounted onto it. However, the ironsights are fully adjustable, allowing for a minimum zeroing of 50 metres up to a maximum of 1,500 metres.[CfgWp 10]
It should be noted that although the M1918A2 is technically classified as an LMG, it is essentially just a fully automatic rifle that allows the user to freely switch between the standard rate of fire (600 rounds per minute)[CfgWp 11][Formula 1] and a reduced rate of fire (375 RPM).[CfgWp 12][Formula 2]
Ironsights[]

The M1918A2's ironsights can be manually zeroed starting from a minimum of 50 metres up to a maximum of 1,500 metres (50, 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000, 1100, 1200, 1300, 1400, 1500).[CfgWp 10] By default, it is set to a zeroing of 50 metres.[CfgWp 13]

It should be noted that the ironsight's rear leaf will not be raised if the M1918A2's zeroing is set to 50 metres. However, every other setting will automatically raise the leaf.
Melee[]
Melee attacks with the M1918A2 will involve striking targets with a buttstroke. The attack will inflict a maximum of 7 points of damage if the buttstroke successfully connects with the target.[CfgAm 1] 9.196 points of stamina will be drained[Formula 3] whenever a buttstroke is performed.[SCR 1]

Trivia[]
- The M1918A2 was not originally available upon launch and was only added after the release of Update 1.2.[1]
- Upon being added initially, resting the M1918A2 onto any applicable surface would play a sound effect as if the user were deploying a bipod - even when its bipod was not actually attached. This was eventually fixed after Update 1.2.1.[2]
- The M1918A2's recoil was slightly reduced after Update 1.31's release.[3]

Notes[]
- ↑ Only applies to the magazine itself. The M1918A2's weapon class has its own initSpeed value defined (860 m/s).
- ↑ This is the M1918A2's actual muzzle velocity. The weapon class initSpeed value (860 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (853 m/s).
- ↑ Damage will be reduced if the projectile's velocity drops below this value.
- ↑ This is the actual penetration depth of the M1918A2's 7.62 mm ammunition. The weapon class initSpeed value (860 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (853 m/s), affecting its penetration formula as a result.
