The MP40 is a 9 mm submachine gun used exclusively by the Viet Cong in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The MP40 is a blowback-operated submachine gun that fires from an open bolt. It is chambered to fire the 9×19 mm cartridge.
It feeds exclusively from 32-round straight box magazines, and can attain a fire rate of approximately ~ 571 rounds per minute[CfgWp 7][Formula 1] with a muzzle velocity of 425 m/s.[CfgWp 8]
MP40s are unable to mount a bayonet and it is not possible to attach a sound suppressor onto the muzzle. The MP40 also cannot be customised with optics, though its ironsight does allow the user to manually adjust its zeroing between two fixed settings of either 100 or 200 metres.[CfgWp 9]
Ironsights[]

The MP40's ironsights can be manually zeroed, though it can only be set to two fixed range settings of either 100 metres or 200 metres.[CfgWp 9] By default, MP40s utilise a zeroing of 100 metres.[CfgWp 10]
Melee[]
Melee attacks with the MP40 involves striking targets with a buttstroke. Attacking in this manner can inflict a maximum of up to 7 points of damage if the buttstroke successfully connects with the target.[CfgAm 1]
It should be noted that melee attacks cost stamina and will drain 3.06 points of stamina[Formula 2] whenever a buttstroke is performed.[SCR 1]

MP40s can only load two types of magazines[CfgWp 11], both of which share the same weight of 8[CfgMa 3] "mass" units:
32Rnd. MP40 Mag[]

Standard 32-round straight box magazine loaded with a mix of 9 mm ball and tracer ammunition.[CfgMa 4]
Every fourth round fired will always emit a visible red tracer.[CfgMa 5] Only the last four rounds of the magazine consist exclusively of tracers.[CfgMa 6]
32Rnd. MP40 Mag (Tracer)[]

Dedicated tracer magazine. All thirty-two rounds of the magazine will emit visible red tracers when fired.[CfgMa 7][CfgMa 8]

Trivia[]
- Its stock will automatically unfold and fold when not in use.
- Update 1.1 slightly adjusted the position of the model's memory points so that the gun no longer clips into the camera while it is being fired in first person.[1]
- For unknown reasons, the MP40 was the heaviest out of all the SMGs in its class prior to Update 1.2 (for comparison it weighed almost the same as the M60 machine gun). This was eventually corrected after the patch was released, which cut its weight to a far more reasonable 45 "mass".[2]

Notes[]
- ↑ This muzzle velocity value (370 m/s) only applies to the magazine itself. The MP40's weapon classname has its own muzzle velocity value defined (425 m/s) that always takes precedence over the magazine's initSpeed value.
- ↑ This is the MP40's actual muzzle velocity. The weapon class initSpeed value (425 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (370 m/s).
- ↑ Damage will be reduced if the projectile's velocity drops below this value.
- ↑ This is the actual penetration depth of the MP40's 9 mm ammunition. The weapon class initSpeed value (425 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (370 m/s), affecting its penetration formula as a result.
