The MPU is a 9 mm submachine gun used by both MACV-SOG forces and in limited numbers with CIA aircrews in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The MPU is a selective-fire, blowback-operated submachinegun that fires from an open bolt. It is chambered to fire the 9×19 mm cartridge.
It can only load 32-round box magazines, and is capable of attaining a fire rate of up to ~ 612 rounds per minute on full auto[CfgWp 8][Formula 1] with a muzzle velocity of 390 m/s.[CfgMa 2][note 1]
The MPU cannot be fitted with optical sights, bayonets, nor a bipod. However, the user can choose to attach a sound suppressor onto its muzzle.[CfgWp 9]
Ironsights[]

The MPU's ironsights can be manually zeroed but are restricted to two fixed range presets of either 100 metres or 200 metres.[CfgWp 10] By default, the ironsights are set to a zeroing of 100 metres.[CfgWp 11]
Melee[]
The MPU's melee attack involves striking targets with a buttstroke. Melee attacks can inflict up to 7 points of damage if they connect with the target successfully.[CfgAm 1]
It should be noted that melee attacks cost stamina and will drain 2.45 points of stamina[Formula 2] whenever a buttstroke is performed.[SCR 1]

MPUs can only load two types of magazines.[CfgWp 12] They both have the same weight of 8[CfgMa 3] "mass" units:
32Rnd. MPU SMG Mag[]

Standard 32-round box magazine loaded with a mix of 9 mm ball and tracer ammunition.[CfgMa 4]
Every fourth round fired will emit a visible red tracer.[CfgMa 5] The last four rounds of the magazine will always emit visible tracers.[CfgMa 6]
32Rnd. MPU SMG Mag (Tracer)[]

Alternate 32-rounder magazine loaded entirely with 9 mm red tracer ammunition.[CfgMa 7][CfgMa 8]

Trivia[]
- The MPU was not initially available upon launch and was only added after the release of Update 1.1.[1]
- Prior to Update 1.2, the MPU lacked distant sound shader effects and would not be audible to human players at extreme ranges.[2]
- The patch also increased its weight from its original of 23 "mass" units and corrected a minor visual glitch on the MPU's model. Before the patch, the MPU's front sight post had a small gap that could be seen in first person.[2]
