I really like the random backgrounds on this wiki, they are very vibrant and interesting. However, they also make the header look boring by comparison and I noticed that you don't have a header image.
I was just wondering what you would think of adding one. I think it might look pretty good if you were to put maybe a tank or rifle up there. Just a little something that breaks up the block of brown and white.
As much as I'd like to, I can't take credit for the backgrounds. They were the idea of LegendFPS and the previous admins who maintained the wiki back in 2014.
Now as for the headers, sure thing. That sounds like a pretty good idea actually.
That being said, it'd be "difficult" to find a suitable image which represents the wiki and series as whole. Whereas story-driven series like Final Fantasy or The Last of Us have iconic characters to put on their wiki headers, Arma doesn't really have one since it's a sandbox game at its core. It would be easy to grab a screenshot from the latest game(s) and slap that onto the header, but it wouldn't represent the wiki well since the series isn't just about Arma 2/3.
For now at least, I think it's a pretty low priority feature. Perhaps later down the track if I can come up with something decent.
I understand what you mean. I will consider it for a bit and maybe come back to you with some suggestions if I can think of anything.
I also understand what you mean about it being low priority. I suppose you could say thinking about these types of low priority things that just make the wiki look more presentable is part of my job though, so I hope you don't mind me pointing them out.
I talked with a friend who has over 1200 hours in ArmA 3 and while he agreed with you that there isn't one thing that truly represents ArmA as a whole, he felt that the Ghost Hawk was very iconic, always being displayed by Bohemia.
It is ArmA 3, obviously, but he gave me some example pictures of it, and there was one in particular that I thought could make a good header without seeming too specific to Arma 3 alone.
I edited it to make it work better as a header. What do you think?
Fandom is currently trying out a new Walkthrough teaching aid for new editors. Apparently, results so far are much better than expected. After trying it on a limited number of wikis, they would like to expand the number using it. It appears on the rail, you can what it looks like here. Is this something you would want to try on this wiki?
The current testing phase for the walkthrough teaching aid that was enabled for this wiki will be ending tomorrow and eventually disabled. Depending on how it performed, it may become a standard feature on the United Community Platform. Let me know if you have any feedback on things you felt it did well or poorly within the next 24 hours.
I am adding a Fandom University player to the Special:Community page to help out new or inexperienced editors on all wikis that are willing to accept it. You can see what it would look like on the Diablo Wiki. This is done with ImportJS and so can easily be removed at any time. Would you be ok with this addition here?
The most popular page on this wiki currently is ArmA 3 Weapons. I noticed there are a few weapons that are missing images and that you added a large portion of the ones that are there. I wouldn't want to interfere with any schedule you prefer, but if possible, it might be nice to have the most visited article look finished.
I'm Tephra, the new Fandom Wiki Manager for the Armed Assault Wiki. I am here to help the community and be your liaison to Fandom. If you need anything, feel free to contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
