Manufactured in Poland, the Mi-2 was first prototyped in 1961 before it entered full production in 1965. Its uses a three-point, fixed, wheeled undercarriage over the original Soviet-made Mi-1 helicopter.

Aside from the baseline troop transport, the Mi-2 features nineteen unique variants that can serve in a variety of roles, from minelaying to agriculture and even a smokescreen layer that can generate a trail a thick smoke. Armed configurations of the Mi-2 can serve as light gunships, and with the ability to use dynamic loadouts, can be equipped with unguided rocket pods, anti-tank guided missiles or short-range air-to-air missiles.
The next step in the development of Soviet light utility helicopters, the Mi-2 is designed with modularity in mind and can be converted for use as a troop transport, light gunship or minelayer. In addition to its primary roles, Mi-2s can slingload cargo and some non-armoured ground vehicles.

<big>Notable Traits</big>

<br />

In stark contrast to its West German counterpart, armed variants of the Mi-2 can be retrofitted (through dynamic loadouts) with a myriad of guided and unguided ordnance for both ground and air targets.

When loaded with air-to-air missiles, the Mi-2 can intercept other helicopters or even shoot down low-flying planes. With rocket pods, the pilots can bombard structures or clumps of infantry and unarmoured ground vehicles. Some models like the Mi-2US specifically, are armed with quad 7.62 mm machine guns, or even wire-guided anti-tank missiles on the Mi-2URP.

<big>Drawbacks</big>

<br />

Regardless of whether they're operated by East German or Polish forces, no model of the Mi-2 has defensive avionics or deployable countermeasures installed. Furthermore, Mi-2s are quite cumbersome to fly and lack the smooth handling of the PAH-1; performing a mid-air roll or even turning slightly hard will result in a drastic speed loss.

Seating arrangements vary based on the model and configuration of the Mi-2, though all support a crew consisting of both the pilot and a co-pilot (who additionally doubles as a gunner on some variants).

Armed troop transporter.

It carries one less passenger due to the eighth passenger slot being occupied by the door gunner, who mans the PKT 7.62 mm machine gun fitted onto the helicopter's right side. The PKT is pre-loaded with one 100-round belt box and has an additional four in reserve (for a combined total of 500 rounds).

This model is equipped with twin stub wings with one pylon each supporting dynamic loadouts. The pylons (1-2) can be fitted with either unguided air-to-ground rocket pods or air-to-air, infrared-guided missiles:

* S-5 (16×)

* S-5K (16×)

* S-5-O (16×)

* 9M32M (1×)

By default, the pylons are retrofitted with S-5 55 mm rocket pods loaded with 16 apiece, fitted with high-explosive (HE) warheads for a total of 32 rounds.

A fixed, forward-facing NS-23 gun is also mounted beneath the left side of the fuselage. The gun feeds from a single 150-round belt consisting of 23 mm armour-piercing incendiary (API) shells and has no belts to reload from.

It also utilises stub wings fitted onto both sides of the airframe, though the hardpoints cannot be adjusted as they are always armed with four 7.62 mm PKT machine guns. The quad PKTs all feed from the same 4,000-round linked belt (it cannot reload unless resupplying from an ammunition truck).

Compared to the Mi-2URN, it carries even less passengers with a maximum of only four riders in the cabin.

Supporting dynamic loadouts, the stub wing pylons (1-4) on this model is intended are intended specifically for guided air-to-ground/air-to-air missiles:

* 9M14 (1×)

* 9M14M (1×)

* 9M32M (2×)

The external pylons (5-6) cannot be fitted with anything other than A2A missiles:

* 9M32M (2×)

Only the central and inner pylons (1-4) are fitted with ordnance, consisting of one 9M14 wire-guided anti-tank missile per hardpoint. The external pylons are not armed by default.

The Mi-2's hull is able to withstand up to 100 points of damage. It takes 100% damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions. 100% of incoming damage to the hull will always be shared with the Mi-2's main "health" pool.
  +
  +
Depletion of the hull's integrity has a high chance of resulting in a total loss.

Each of the Mi-2's engines are capable of taking a maximum of 25 points of damage. They take 100% damage from HE-type munitions. 100% of incoming damage to either engine will be shared with the helicopter's "health" pool.

  +
Destruction of both engines has the potential of causing a total loss if the helicopter is at or near critical "health" status.
If damaged: Reduced power generation, making it difficult to gain both speed and altitude.<br />If destroyed: Power output is cut depending on which engine was destroyed first. If both are lost simultaneously, then the helicopter will suffer complete power loss.

Main rotor
Main rotor
Components for the main rotors consist of the rotor blades and horizontal stabilisers:
The main rotors can only withstand 20 points of damage before they fail. At least 10% of damage is shared with the helicopter's "health" pool.

* The main rotors can take up to 20 points of damage before they break. They take 100% damage from HE-type munitions. Only 10% of incoming damage to the blades will be shared with the helicopter's main "health" pool.

  +
* Each of the stabilisers (left/right) are able to withstand a maximum of 80 points of damage before they fail. They do not take additional or reduced damage from HE-type munitions. No damage inflicted upon the stabilisers is shared with the Mi-2's "health" pool.
A disabled main rotor makes it increasingly difficult to maintain the Mi-2's lift. Unless the tail rotor has also been disabled however, the helicopter can still be (reasonably) controlled at low airspeeds.

Tail rotor
Tail rotor
* The stabilisers can take up to 80 points of damage. They do not take increased or less damage from HE-type munitions. 100% of damage to the tail rotor will be shared with the helicopter's main "health" pool.
A disabled tail rotor will drastically increase torque from the main rotor. At low airspeeds, the Mi-2 will become extremely difficult to control due to constant yaw shifting to one side.

WIP: This page is currently a Work-In-Progress. Information contained in this article is either incomplete or missing and is subject to review.

The Mi-2 and its derivatives are multi-purpose transport helicopters used by both East German and Polish military forces, as well as with East German civilians in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany Creator DLC.

Overview

  • Roles:
    • Troop transport
    • Law enforcement
    • Rescue
    • Civil transportation
    • Minelayer
    • Light gunship
« The Mi-2 is a helicopter of soviet origin and produced in Poland. It sees worldwide usage with nearly 5500 units produced. The Mi-2 is a multirole aircraft that sees service in both civilian and military applications.

Design

This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.

Features
Aside from the baseline troop transport, the Mi-2 features nineteen unique variants that can serve in a variety of roles, from minelaying to agriculture and even a smokescreen layer that can generate a trail a thick smoke. Armed configurations of the Mi-2 can serve as light gunships, and with the ability to use dynamic loadouts, can be equipped with unguided rocket pods, anti-tank guided missiles or short-range air-to-air missiles.

Crew Capacity
Seating arrangements vary based on the model and configuration of the Mi-2, though all support a crew consisting of both the pilot and a co-pilot who additionally doubles as a gunner on some of the gunship variants.

Protection

All variants of the Mi-2 share a base armour value of 100.

Hull

The Mi-2's hull is able to withstand up to 100 points of damage. It takes 100% damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions. 100% of incoming damage to the hull will always be shared with the Mi-2's main "health" pool.

Depletion of the hull's integrity has a high chance of resulting in a total loss.

Engines

Each of the Mi-2's engines are capable of taking a maximum of 25 points of damage. They take 100% damage from HE-type munitions. 100% of incoming damage to either engine will be shared with the helicopter's "health" pool.

Destruction of both engines has the potential of causing a total loss if the helicopter is at or near critical "health" status.

Fuel tank

The helicopter's fuel lines/tank can withstand up to 100 points of damage. They take 100% damage from HE-type munitions. 100% of incoming damage will always be shared with the Mi-2's main "health" pool.

Instruments

The Mi-2's flight instruments and avionics can only take 15 points of damage before they fail. They take 100% damage from HE-type munitions. 100% of incoming damage will always be shared with the Mi-2's "health" pool.

Main rotor

Components for the main rotors consist of the rotor blades and horizontal stabilisers:

  • The main rotors can take up to 20 points of damage before they break. They take 100% damage from HE-type munitions. Only 10% of incoming damage to the blades will be shared with the helicopter's main "health" pool.
  • Each of the stabilisers (left/right) are able to withstand a maximum of 80 points of damage before they fail. They do not take additional or reduced damage from HE-type munitions. No damage inflicted upon the stabilisers is shared with the Mi-2's "health" pool.

Tail rotor

The tail rotor assembly consists of the tail rotor and vertical stabilisers:

  • The tail rotor can withstand a maximum of 30 points of damage before it breaks. It takes 100% damage from HE-type munitions. At least 30% of incoming damage will be shared with the Mi-2's "health" pool.
  • The stabilisers can take up to 80 points of damage. They do not take increased or less damage from HE-type munitions. 100% of damage to the tail rotor will be shared with the helicopter's main "health" pool.

Armament

NOTE: Some configurations of the Mi-2 support the dynamic loadouts mechanic and have munitions that are not detailed in this section.

This version of the Mi-2's Visual Sensor is forward-facing only. The Visual Sensor can be affected by heavy fog and can lose up to 5% of its range depending on its thickness. The Visual Sensor suffers from a 50% range penalty at night and very low-light conditions.

Visual Sensor (URP/URP-G)

Exclusively available to the Mi-2URP and Mi-2URP-G variants.

Unlike the baseline Visual Sensor, the URP/URP-G's Visual Sensor is embedded within the co-pilot's targeting camera. The Visual Sensor can be affected by heavy fog and can lose up to 5% of its range depending on its thickness. This version of the Visual Sensor also suffers from a 50% range penalty at night and very low-light conditions.

Slingloading

NOTE: All Mi-2s are capable of slinging non-Global Mobilization vehicles. Please note that they are deliberately excluded from this section.

Mi-2s have a maximum lifting capacity of 1,800 kg.

Compared to the PAH 1, Mi-2s can carry more than double their maximum load capacity and can slingload larger vehicles (including the PAH 1 and its derivatives). The engines are also much stronger, and won't cause the helicopter to suffer a noticeable penalty to either handling or speed while slinging cargo:

Supply crates and Warsaw Pact LAK II/NATO ACE I logistical shelters can also be lifted (though this does not include ACE II shelters). However, Mi-2s are still unable to carry armoured vehicles and any of the utility trucks.

Trivia

  • All variants of the Mi-2 were not initially present upon Global Mobilization's release and were only included after Update 1.2.[1]
  • The Mi-2's weight limits for slingloading cargo loads was increased from 800 kg to 1,800 kg after the release of Update 1.3.5448, allowing it to slingload the (then-new) Pkw gel. 469 and UAZ 469 LUVs.[2]
  • Prior to Update 1.5, the Platan minelayer variant was bugged and could not deploy its anti-tank mines.[3]
