« | The Mk1 Underwater Defence Gun (UDG) is a compact, double action only pepper-box weapon with a removable cylinder of six 4.25in darts. It was developed in the 1960s for use by US Navy SEAL Underwater Demolitions Teams (UDT's). The UDG is almost silent when used on land, and has an effective range of 30 feet. Field Manual

The Mk1 UDG is an underwater pistol used exclusively by MACV-SOG forces in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the S.O.G. Prairie Fire Creator DLC.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The Mark 1 Underwater Defense Gun (UDG) is a double-action pepperbox-type pistol.
It can only load 6-round cylinders "magazines" that are specifically designed for its use. It has a muzzle velocity of 280 m/s[CfgWp 7] and can attain a fire rate of approximately ~ 857 rounds per minute.[CfgWp 8][Formula 1]
Mk1 UDGs cannot be fitted with optics and muzzle attachments, nor can they be dual-wielded alongside a flashlight. When fired below the water's surface, the Mk1 UDG can be used to engage enemy divers or infantry standing close to the water's edge at ranges of up to 10 metres (at a depth of approximately ~ 18 metres).
It should be noted that in spite of its appearance, the Mk1 UDG is classified as a primary weapon and cannot be carried in the user's secondary weapon slot.[CfgWp 9]
Ironsights[]

The Mk1 UDG uses a fixed zeroing of 10 metres that cannot be manually adjusted.[CfgWp 10][CfgWp 11]
The three green dots on the front and rear sights are not actually illuminated. However, depending on the user's facing direction and the position of nearby ambient light sources (moonlight included), the dots' high reflectivity can make them appear to "shine" even in low-light conditions.

Trivia[]
- The Mk1 UDG was not initially available as part of S.O.G.'s launch content and was only added after the release of Update 1.1.[1]
- Upon its inclusion, it was still possible to strike opponents physically by pistol whipping them with the Mk1 UDG. This was removed after a hotfix for Update 1.1, which disabled the Mk1 UDG's alternate melee attack.[2]
- It is unique for being the first pistol-type weapon in the series that isn't carried as a secondary weapon (albeit only in a semi-official capacity).

Notes[]
- ↑ This muzzle velocity value (225 m/s) only applies to the magazine itself. The weapon's initSpeed value (280 m/s) always takes precedence over the magazine's initSpeed since it is not defined as a coefficient.
- ↑ This is the Mk1 UDG's actual muzzle velocity. The weapon class initSpeed value (280 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (225 m/s).
- ↑ Damage will be reduced if the projectile's velocity drops below this value.
- ↑ This is the actual penetration depth of the Mk1 UDG's Mark 59 Mod 0 darts. The weapon class initSpeed value (280 m/s) takes precedence over the magazine initSpeed value (225 m/s), affecting its penetration formula as a result.
- ↑ This magazine technically does emit visible tracers as the tracersEvery and lastRoundsTracer tokens have been defined for the magazine classname. However, because the ammo classname's nvgOnly token is set to a value of 1 (true), it will not be visible unless the user looks directly at the projectile in midair with night vision activated. Furthermore, because the Mk1 UDG's Mk59 darts use an actual "bullet" model (vn_mk1_udg_ammo.p3d) as opposed to the generic tracer projectile model, no real "tracer" projectile will actually be created at the time of the dart being fired.
