The Modular Carrier GL Rig is a ballistic/explosive-resistant vest used by the Livonian Defense Force in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the Contact DLC.

Overview

This is a premium asset that requires ownership of the Contact expansion pack.

A modified Modular Carrier Lite vest but with shoulder and pelvic guards attached, the Modular Carrier GL Rig is only worn by the Livonian Defense Force's specialist troops. It weighs 80 "mass" and provides enough space for 130 units of ammunition/gear.

As with its parent vest, the Modular Carrier GL Rig is rated at Level III protection standards and covers the user's chest, abdomen and diaphragm. Thanks to the addition of extra protective guards, the wearer's pelvic region, neck and shoulders are also covered and reduce damage from pistol calibre rounds, indirect explosions, and grenade blasts.

For all intents and purposes, the Modular Carrier GL Rig is an inferior version of its NATO counterpart. This is mostly attributed to the bulk of the vest itself - namely the torso and neck guards, not being improved with tougher armour.

As a result, it is only useful for surviving grenade explosions. For other parts of the vest like the chest and diaphragm, the level of protection it offers against damage from ballistic projectiles is actually worse than that of regular Modular Carrier Lites/Vests. This is due in large part to their reduced damage reduction modifiers of 40% (compared to the MCL/MCV's modifiers of 70%).

Camouflage

• Geometric: Fractal woodland-themed camouflage intended to mimic the LDF's Geometric pattern.
• Olive: Pale olive-green colour scheme.

Trivia

• Alongside Modular Carrier Lites/Vests, the Modular Carrier GL Rig is based on the real-world "KWM-02" designed by MASKPOL S.A., a protective gear manufacturer located in Poland.
