Montignac is a town located to the west of Entre Deux and to the south of Tyrone.
It is situated at the centre of a crossroads which connects the northern peninsula to the rest of the island. Several farms and an industrial compound are present within and around the town. Heading north-east cuts through the Hornbeam Valley, while going south will lead towards the Pinewood Lake.
Montignac is notable for being a major battleground at the height of the Malden Islands Crisis. Two significant battles were fought between U.S.-led NATO forces and rogue Soviet units commanded by a disavowed General of the Soviet 3rd Army, Aleksei Vasilii Guba.[1][2]
History[]
The U.S. strike force is forced to retreat from Montignac.
The town was forcibly occupied by Gen. Aleksei Guba's forces in the early hours of May 8th, 1985.[3] The U.S. garrison on Malden quickly assembled a mechanised infantry force to retake Everon from Guba's troops, launching a multi-pronged assault on May 13th to dislodge the Soviets.[1]
They temporarily succeeded in recapturing Montignac[4], but were soon driven off by a massive waveof reinforcements which overran the paltry American strike force.[5][6][7]
U.S. tank platoon, callsign Yankee, smashes through Soviet defences.
Montignac would remain under the control of Guba's forces until a month later on June 21st.[3] Several platoons of U.S. tanks spearheaded a major ground offensive from the town's north[2], seizing the villages of Tyrone and Meaux first before continuing their advance south towards Montignac itself.[8][9]

We built a camp in Le Moule, and more troops arrived to build another camp further to the North. Since this base camp was built, we've just been waiting around for two days. Playing poker, relaxing and trying to forget we're in some kind of war. But we're definitely in for some action this morning. Seems like there's another village which needs clearing - Montignac. There's a truck coming in a minute to take us there. What's really getting to me right now, is that I could be dead in few hours, but no-one back home has any idea what's going on here. As far as they know, we're still in the training camp. Still sitting around, still firing at wooden targets on the range. Not facing Russiantanks... Goddamnit. Where's that truck?"

But we've got a job to do - and, hey, thanks to that last success I'm now in command of an entire tank platoon. Not bad for a few days' work. The infantry did a good job taking the airport here, and now it's up to us to push down to the south. Those Special Ops guys have apparently cleared the route for us, so we shouldn't meet any choppers on the way. Sure, we'll probably come up against a load of infantry and maybe some armoredvehicles... but we're a group of four Abrams - the most kick-ass tanks on the battlefield. They don't stand a chance. Our orders are to take the city of Montignac. Funny - isn't that the last place our troops conquered when we were here earlier?"
