The NSV is a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun used exclusively by Soviet military forces in ARMA Reforger.
Overview[]
- This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.
The NSV is a belt fed, gas operated heavy machine gun that uses a long stroke gas piston. It is chambered to fire the 12.7×108 mm cartridge.
It feeds exclusively from 50-round belts stored in metal ammoboxes[CmpWp 4], and can attain a fire rate of up to 700 rounds per minute with a muzzle velocity of 820 m/s[Formula 1] (when loaded with BS API ammunition).[CmpWp 5][CmpAm 1] By default, a static NSV always has access to three ammoboxes for a combined pool of 150 rounds.[CmpTu 1][CmpTu 2][CmpTu 3] It takes at least 15 seconds to rearm the NSV with a fresh ammobox.[CmpWp 6]
When the turret is placed onto the ground (and the operator is forced into a seated position), its 6T7 tripod allows for a maximum horizontal rotation of up to 25 degrees in either direction.[CmpTu 4] Vertical rotation limits are more restrictive and limit the NSV to an elevation and depression of just 20 degrees.[CmpTu 5]
On the other hand, if the turret is placed onto an elevated position (and the operator is not sitting down), horizontal rotation limits are increased to 50 degrees in both directions instead.[CmpTu 6] Vertical rotation remains mostly remains unchanged with a minimum depression of 20 degrees. However, its elevation limit has been slightly increased to 25 degrees.[CmpTu 7]
The standard NSV is available by default in Soviet Machine-Gun Nests. Constructing this defensive position has a Supply cost of 350 units.[CmpEn 1]
Variants[]
SPP[]
The SPP sub-variant specifically has an adjustable power telescopic sight attached onto its Dovetail mount.[CmpWp 11] This optical sight can toggle between two zoom levels of either 3x[CmpWp 12] or 6x[CmpWp 13] magnification. It also has an (optional) illuminated reticle that can be activated for use at nighttime or poor lighting conditions.[CmpWp 14]
However, aside from the inclusion of this scope which increases the overall weight of the turret by +1.7 kg[CmpWp 10] (raising the system's total weight to 54.2 kg when unloaded)[CmpWp 3], the SPP variant's stats remains unchanged from the baseline NSV. Its turret rotation limits also remain unchanged since it uses the exact same low-mount 6T7 tripod.[CmpTu 8][CmpTu 9][CmpTu 10][CmpTu 11]
Note that this variant is also available in Soviet Machine-Gun Nests, though it has a slightly higher Supply cost of 400 units instead.[CmpEn 2]
Sights[]

It should be noted that the SPP can toggle between its default black and a red illuminated reticle for use in low-light conditions.[CmpWp 14]

Static NSVs can load from two types of "magazines":[CmpWp 4]
12.7×108mm 50rnd NSV API Belt[]

Standard 50-round belt loaded into a metal ammobox. Its belt has a mix of BS armour-piercing incendiary (API) and BZT-44 armour-piercing incendiary tracer (API-T) ammunition.
This ammobox has a Supply cost of 1 unit if it is retrieved from an Arsenal Box crate.
12.7×108mm 50rnd NSV API-T Belt[]

Dedicated 50-round tracer belt loaded exclusively with BZT-44 armour-piercing incendiary tracer (API-T) ammunition.
This ammobox has a Supply cost of 1 unit if it is retrieved from an Arsenal Box crate.
Trivia[]
- The NSV was not initially available in the Early Access, nor did it get added after Reforger left Early Access with the release of 1.0. It would only be included in the Resistance Ops patch as part of Update 1.1's content.[2]
- Its inclusion in 1.1 was first teased in an official social media post published on February 13th, 2024.[3]
- Reforger is the first main title in the series to feature the NSV as a static weapon as opposed to being a coaxial or vehicle turret-fitted weapon (i.e. T-80s in ArmA: Cold War Assault or NSVT-Ms on ArmA 3's T-100 tank).

Notes[]
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 No ammobelt/ammobox loaded and no +1 round in the chamber.
- ↑ 2.0 2.1 Full 50-round ammobelt/ammobox loaded (mix of BS and BZT-44) but no +1 round in the chamber.
- ↑ 3.0 3.1 Full 50-round ammobelt/ammobox loaded (mix of BS and BZT-44), including +1 round in the chamber.
- ↑ 4.0 4.1 The bullet projectile's muzzle velocity at the time of leaving the barrel can randomly have this amount of velocity added or reduced. This is randomised and will not consistently be the same each time a round is fired.
- ↑ 5.0 5.1 The bullet projectile's mushrooming damage multiplier is set to a value of zero.
