NOTE: This article is about OT-64A2 SKOTs in ArmA 3's CSLA Iron Curtain Creator DLC. For its Polish counterpart in Global Mobilization - Cold War Germany, see SKOT-2A (Global Mobilization).

The OT-64A2 SKOT is a wheeled Armoured Personnel Carrier used by the ČSLA and in limited numbers with FIA guerillas and Czechoslovak police in ArmA 3. It was added with the release of the CSLA Iron Curtain Creator DLC.

Overview[]

  • Roles:
    • Troop transport
    • Armed scout
    • Law enforcement
« OT-64 SKOT ("medium wheeled armored transporter") was an amphibious wheeled APC, created as a joint Czechoslovak-Polish project. At the time of its creation, it was one of the top vehicles of its kind. The new vehicle was meant to be the equivalent of the Soviet BTR-60. The first test series was produced in 1961, and the vehicle entered service in both countries in 1964. Production took place in Poland, although many parts (e.g. the Tatra engine, the Praga gearbox and the chassis) were supplied from Czechoslovakia.

This section is a stub. You can help Armed Assault Wiki by expanding it.

Armament
It is armed with a 14.5 mm heavy machine gun and a coaxial 7.62 mm medium machine gun.

The primary KPVT HMG feeds from 100-round belts. These belts are split between two types of munitions:

  • Three belts' worth of armour-piercing incendiary rounds (API-T)
  • Two belts loaded with high-explosive incendiary ammunition (HEI-T)

Meanwhile, the coaxial PKT MMG feeds from 250-round belts. By default, one of these belts are always pre-loaded. It has access to a further 7 belts in reserve for a combined pool of 2,000 rounds, though these are also split between two types of munitions:

  • Six belts loaded with armour-piercing incendiary rounds (API)
  • Two belts' worth of heavy tracer rounds (Heav.T)

Features
It is available in two variants: the baseline APC platform, and a VB (Public Security) sub-variant used for law enforcement and riot control purposes.

The SKOT is fully amphibious and will automatically deploy its trim vane upon entering any body of water. To improve their visibility, the driver has the option to raise the armoured shutters that protect them from small arms fire (at the cost of making them more vulnerable to being shot at).

Crew Capacity
The SKOT supports a crew that consists of the driver and a gunner, along with ten passengers who sit in the rear compartment. By default, the commander "crew" position on SKOTs remains unoccupied. This seat can double as the eleventh seat for a passenger if necessary.

It should be noted that the driver and commander can only swap seats with one another and cannot assume control of the gunner seat or enter the rear passenger compartment (and vice versa). In order for the driver/commander and gunner/passengers to "swap" seats, they must first exit the vehicle and mount up again via the front or rear compartment hatch (depending on their desired seating position).

Variants[]

Arma3-render-cslaicot64a2skotvb1
Public Security (VB) variant used for law enforcement and riot control purposes.

Armament-wise, it shares the exact same weapon systems (KPVT/PKT) and munitions loadout. The main difference is that it has a chain-link fence barrier mounted to the front of hull. This barrier can be unfolded to form a wider barrier. Although it is fairly fragile, it can be used to form a wall to cordon off areas or to plough through small obstacles.

This is the only variant that is available to both the FIA and civilian police.
This variant has a gross weight of 13111.7 kg.

ČSLA[]

FIA/Public Security (VB)[]

Protection[]

Both variants of the SKOT have a base armour value of 275. It is not possible to attach any kind of addon armour onto the vehicle's hull.

Hull[]

The SKOT's hull is able to withstand up to 742.5 points of damage. It takes 60% reduced damage from high-explosive (HE) type munitions. At least 20% of incoming damage will be shared with the SKOT's main "health" pool.

Depletion of the hull's integrity has a chance to cause a catastrophic kill, though only if the SKOT is at critical "health" status.

Engine[]

The engine can take up to 165 points of damage. It takes 50% less damage from HE-type munitions. At least 30% of incoming damage will be shared with the SKOT's "health" pool.

Destruction of the engine has the potential to result in a catastrophic kill if the SKOT is at critical "health" status.

Fuel tank[]

The SKOT's fuel tank is able to withstand a maximum of 82.5 points of damage before it ruptures. It takes 150% increased damage from HE-type munitions. Only 10% of damage to the fuel tank is shared with the SKOT's main "health" pool.

Wheels[]

Each of the SKOT's wheels are capable of taking up to 522.5 points of damage before their tyres burst. They do not receive increased or reduced damage from HE-type munitions. No damage inflicted upon any of the wheels will be shared with the SKOT's "health" pool.

Turret[]

The SKOT's turret can take a maximum of 110 points of damage before it fails. It takes 80% reduced damage from HE-type munitions. No damage to the turret is shared with the SKOT's main "health" pool.

Barrier[]

The chain-link fence barrier on VB SKOT variants can only take up to 2.75 points of damage before they break. The barriers do not take additional or less damage from HE-type munitions. Damage inflicted upon any of the barriers will not be shared with the SKOT's "health" pool.

Components[]

NOTE: Cosmetic-only component modules with no gameplay effects are deliberately excluded from this section.

  • Beacon:* Attaches a sirenlight/beacon to the front of the hull. The driver has the option to enable or disable a police siren while it remains attached.
  • Link Fence Barrier:* Shows or hides the chain-link fence barrier attached to the front of the hull.

(*) These components are not available to the baseline SKOT APC and can only be applied to the VB variant.

Armament[]

Only the gunner retains control over both of the SKOT's weapon systems: the KPVT 14.5 mm heavy machine gun and the PKT 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun.

For optics, the gunner's sight is unmagnified and cannot toggle enhanced vision modes. However, they can alternate between the default all-black reticle and an illuminated one for use in low-light conditions:

KPVT[]

Arma3-vehicleweapons-cslaicot64a2skot-kpvt
Round name Base damage value Aerodynamic friction Initial velocity (m/s) Penetration depth (mm)
14.5×114 mm API-T 35.889 -0.00028 998 156.8856
14.5×114 mm HEI-T 36.38 -0.00028 945 49.47075

General-purpose 14.5 mm heavy machine gun.

It can load two types of ammunition:

  • 14.5×114 mm API: Anti-armour munition. Fired with a muzzle velocity of 998 m/s. Can penetrate up to ~ 156 millimetres of armour plating.
  • 14.5×114 mm HEI: Anti-personnel munition. Fired with a muzzle velocity of 945 m/s. Has a small spill radius of 0.25 metres, though it is not classified as an explosive munition and is purely kinetic. It has an armour penetration depth of ~ 49 millimetres.

Regardless of the type of ammunition loaded, the KPVT can attain a fire rate of up to 600 rounds per minute. Accuracy-wise, it has a dispersion of 0.0005 rad. It takes 4 seconds to reload a fresh belt, swap between munition types, or to fully rearm from a logistics vehicle.

It should be noted that it is not possible to manually adjust the KPVT's zeroing.

PKT[]

Arma3-vehicleweapons-cslaicot64a2skot-pkt
Round name Base damage value Aerodynamic friction Initial velocity (m/s) Penetration depth (mm)
7.62×54R API 12.2 -0.00096 830 24.21525
7.62×54R Heav.T 12.367 -0.00096 765 23.06475

Coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun.

It can attain a fire rate of up to 800 RPM with a muzzle velocity of either 830 m/s when loaded with API rounds or 765 m/s for Heav.T ammunition. Accuracy-wise, it has a dispersion of 0.0016 rad. It takes at least 4 seconds to reload the PKT with a fresh belt or to fully rearm from a supply truck. Manual zeroing is also not available to the PKT.

FFV[]

No crew positions have the ability to utilise FFV. Only four of the passengers in the rear troop compartment have the option to do so, though they will need to be turned out first.

Trivia[]

  • Desert textures for the SKOT (previously available only in the standalone Desert Pack addon created by the developers[1]) were added in Update 1.1.[2]
    • The patch also added the VB derivative for both civilian law enforcement and the FIA.[2] Prior to the patch's release, the SKOT was exclusively a REDFOR vehicle.[3]
