One Shot One Kill is a playable showcase mission in ArmA 2. It was added with the release of the Operation Arrowhead expansion pack.

Overview[]

The player controls an unnamed U.S. Army sniper, callsign Dingo. Operation Arrowhead is due to commence shortly and a chance to assassinate Colonel Jafar Karizi, intelligence commander for the Zargabad District, has presented itself.

If successful, Karizi's death would deal a severe blow against the regime and cripple the Takistani Army's ability to coordinate a defence against allied forces.

Walkthrough[]

Primary 1: Kill the Colonel[]

Your assassination target, codenamed Spider, will be arriving shortly at the city of Feruz Abad. He'll be airlifted via helicopter from the north-east and arrive in approximately ten minutes time. Once he lands, he'll disembark at the helipads near grid coordinates 050-060. Make your way towards a vantage point of your choice, ideally one that offers a full view of the city centre.

You will have to bypass several two/three-man patrols along the way. Keep in mind that since you don't have any suppressed weapons, you'll need to end your firefights quickly before they can alert the garrison at the coltan mines or within the city itself. Don't take too long to get into position though; callsign Bishop will provide you with a status update at the five minute mark so don't waste time on getting there.

Once you're in position overlooking the AO, double check to ensure that there are no stray patrols within 500 metres of your sniping position. Spider should be landing shortly and make his way towards the two officers standing near the helipad.

Zoom in with your weapon's scope (if possible), line up a shot, then fire when ready. Remember to check that your sniper rifle is correctly zeroed to the right distance; this will depend entirely on where you chose to set up a firing position so the distance could range from 600 m up to 1200 m.

If you missed your first shot, Spider will attempt to board the helicopter and flee. You can either disable the helicopter with a few rounds to its engine/rotors or kill the pilot if this happens to stop him from escaping.

Primary 2: Exfiltrate[]

All enemy forces in the region will automatically transition to COMBAT status and begin prowling the area, so don't stick around for too long.

Head west towards the safezone coloured green on your map. The showcase will end once you get within proximity of the marked location (your spotter doesn't have to be close by for it to finish).

Tips[]

  • Your AI spotter's survival is not required for a successful completion of the mission. If he becomes a liability, consider leaving him behind at the insertion point and do the mission solo.
  • Avoid engagements with patrols unless necessary.
  • At the beginning of the mission, use the rock mounds at 042-066 (near your insertion point) to scout for the patrols in the surrounding area. Their routes are always fixed until they get alerted to your presence.
  • Always check your nearby surroundings before assassinating the target. All it takes is one stray patrol to get alerted by your shot(s) and zero in on your location.

Trivia[]

  • One Shot One Kill is one of the rare instances in which its events canonically occurs within the main Armaverse timeline. Chronologically, it takes place (roughly) within the same timeframe as the first mission of the campaign.[1]
